Job description

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Public Relations Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining a positive public image for the health system. Their responsibilities include designing communications campaigns, writing press releases, and other content for news, working with the press, arranging interviews for company spokespeople, writing speeches for company leaders, acting as an organization's spokesperson, preparing clients for press conferences, media interviews, and more. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Functions:
  1. Works with marketing team and clients to develop strategic, proactive public relations and storytelling strategies for service lines and systems to enhance brand reputation and engagement.
  2. Builds relationships with media outlets, actively pitching stories, serving as primary point of contact for media inquiries.
  3. Creates memorable content across all mediums, including but not limited to press releases, publications, newsletters, blogs, etc. with a focus on strategy.
  4. Assists in the development of events for Memorial Health System that promote, educate, foster relationships, and inform to strengthen engagement with the system.
  5. Representation of the system at community events, maintaining strong relationships with community partners and other influencers.
  6. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, business, or related field required.
  • Minimum three years of experience preferred.

Special Knowledge, Skills, Training:
  • Outstanding communications skills
  • Ability to translate complex medical information to broad audiences
  • Ability to prioritize and solve problems.

Compensation Details: Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
