Public Relations Specialist - Junior

Level: Junior | Work Location: On-Site – Arlington, VA

This position is contingent upon contract award.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Red Carrot is seeking a Junior Public Relations Specialist to support the customer's External Affairs office on a federal communications contract. This role assists in executing PR campaigns, managing speaker engagement activities, and supporting media and stakeholder outreach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in planning and development of strategic PR campaigns in support of customer's mission
  • Monitor shared email boxes and submissions for meeting and speaking requests; log and track in accordance with established SOPs
  • Prepare Speaking Request Forms and Speaker Approval Forms; coordinate with requestors for missing information
  • Prepare briefing memos for meeting and speaking engagements; compile background and reference information
  • Conduct research to evaluate meeting and speaking requests and coordinate with event points-of-contact
  • Prepare media kits, releases, fact sheets, and responses to media inquiries
  • Support development of local media lists for regional activities
  • Perform clerical functions including preparing reports, tracking leadership commitments, and scheduling meetings
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BS/BA in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience assisting in PR campaign planning and working with client and project team members
  • Strong organizational and written communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a DHS Fitness Determination
