What is a PR associate?

PR Associates, or Public Relations Associates, are professionals who support the creation and distribution of positive information about an organization to the public and media. They assist in drafting press releases, organizing events, managing media lists, and monitoring public perception. Their work helps maintain a favorable image of the company and ensures effective communication with stakeholders. PR Associates often collaborate with senior PR staff and other departments to implement communication strategies.

How does a PR associate typically collaborate with other departments within an organization?

As a PR Associate, you'll work closely with teams such as marketing, social media, and product management to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication strategies. Collaboration often involves coordinating press releases, supporting event planning, and sharing feedback from media coverage. This cross-functional work helps align public relations goals with broader company objectives and ensures that campaigns are cohesive across all channels. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential to manage these collaborations successfully.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a PR associate, and why are they important?

Joining Om means becoming part of a collaborative, entrepreneurial team where you'll have the opportunity to make an impact beyond the traditional boundaries of an Associate Brand Manager role.

Our culture is grounded in five core values:

  • Open Hearts, Clear Voices - Communicate openly, assume positive intent, and value every perspective.
  • Champion Each Other's Success - Celebrate wins and support each other's growth.
  • Own It - Take accountability, stay solution-oriented, and learn from both wins and mistakes.
  • Thrive in Balance - Work hard, prioritize thoughtfully, and make space to recharge.

You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Take meaningful ownership of projects and see your work move from idea to shelf
  • Work directly with senior leaders and cross-functional partners across the business
  • Gain exposure across brand strategy, innovation, commercialization, sales, and activation
  • Help shape a growing brand and an evolving consumer category
  • Build your career in an environment where strong ideas and initiative are valued
  • Grow alongside the business as Om continues to evolve and expand

What You'll Do

Project & Cross-Functional Management — Own timelines, priorities, deliverables, and communication across multiple projects, proactively identifying gaps and keeping cross-functional teams aligned and moving forward.

Business Management & Planning — Monitor consumer, category, competitive, and business trends and translate insights into clear recommendations and actions.

Innovation & New Product Development — Help manage and advance the innovation pipeline, supporting products from initial concept and brief through development, commercialization, launch, and in-market execution.

Packaging Development — Manage packaging development timelines, including creative, design, regulatory, and approval cycles, with strong attention to detail.

Brand Activation & Launch Planning — Partner with the Digital Marketing Manager and broader team to support integrated launch and activation plans across consumer touchpoints.

PR Activation – Partner with our PR to drive buzz around our process, products and superior process.

Retailer & Sales Support — Equip the sales team with the insights, tools, materials, and product stories needed to successfully bring Om products to market and win at shelf.

Performance & Analytics — Help monitor brand, product, category, and competitive performance and turn data into clear recommendations and action plans.

P&L Support — Support business and innovation decisions through financial analysis, forecasting, and an understanding of key business drivers.

Requirements:

  • Analytically strong and comfortable using data to identify opportunities, make recommendations, and influence business decisions
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when managing commercialization and packaging processes
  • A  proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, you identify gaps, anticipate what comes next, and bring a point of view on how to move forward
  • Comfortable operating in a growing, entrepreneurial environment where priorities can evolve quickly
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across functions and levels
