Position Summary/Essential Functions: 

This position supports strategic sourcing projects by deploying best practices, procurement tools and negotiation skills. Supports proposal activities with supplier bids, reviews historic pricing to evaluate quotes, performs cost and price analyses, conducts fact findings and serves as a negotiator. Makes recommendation to strategic sourcing managers when seeking long-term agreements pre-customer order award and/or at time of project release in compliance with FAR and commercial regulations. Assists with LTA and Pricing agreement activities such as obtaining forecasts from business development, requesting quotes from suppliers and participates in term negotiations, if applicable. Supports Engineering sourcing activities of new product and/or sources.

The Supply Chain Specialist I works collaboratively and proactively to identify process, sourcing and contract improvement opportunities and negotiates/executes long term agreements based on provided customer forecasts.

  • Solicits and evaluates proposals/quotations, provides cost analysis, price justification, and risk assessments of suppliers at time of proposal.
  • Competes bid proposals and executes long term agreements for premier programs and/or customer with approval from the Sourcing & Commodity Manager.
  • Works closely with the pricing team to submit proposal quotes in a timely matter to the customer.
  • Provides target pricing for the tactical procurement team post contract award.
  • Assembles pre-awards documentation for anticipated contracts and purchases.
  • Communicates any quote exception or any significant changes to the supplier's status as to financial stability, delivery/quality performance and pricing of parts.
  • Assists Engineering in sourcing of parts and selecting suppliers to participate in development activities based on quality, lead time, cost effectiveness and producibility.
  • Negotiates long-term contract agreements with key suppliers to obtain effective prices, terms, products, and services to support PPI, inventory reduction and WADPO.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by the sourcing manager.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years' applicable experience in bid evaluations and negotiating long-term agreements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, management, customers and other stakeholders in the organization.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with FAR requirements preferred.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Possess strong negotiation skills and familiarity in executing long-term agreements in support of supplier stock and reduced PPI.
  • Familiarity in sourcing products on the internet by using COTS part numbers, material specifications and/or descriptions provided by Engineering or Program manager.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings is a plus.

  • Pay Range:  69500 to 115000 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
