Job description

Job Summary

Our client is a long-established collision and refinishing operation with nearly five decades of experience serving the local area. The shop specializes in repairing and refinishing heavy trucks, RVs, boats, fleet vehicles, as well as completing industrial and commercial coating work. This is a fast-paced, high-output environment with a seasoned team that values craftsmanship and attention to detail. They are seeking an experienced painter who can step in confidently and work independently while maintaining high-quality standards from day one.

Duties

  • Prepare surfaces for coating by cleaning, sanding, masking, and ensuring proper adhesion and finish quality
  • Apply primers, base coats, clear coats, and specialty coatings using gravity-feed spray guns and pressure pot systems
  • Complete refinishing work on heavy trucks, RVs, boats, and commercial fleet vehicles with both durability and appearance in mind
  • Perform industrial coating applications on equipment, tanks, and structural steel components
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards before release
  • Work closely with estimators and technicians to coordinate job flow and timing
  • Maintain, clean, and properly operate all spray equipment and related tools

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in automotive, collision, industrial, or commercial painting
  • Strong background in surface preparation including sanding, masking, and priming
  • Experience using gravity-feed spray guns and pressure pot systems
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Certification such as I-CAR, ASE, or manufacturer training is a plus but not required
  • Familiarity with major paint systems such as PPG, BASF, or Axalta preferred
  • Experience with color matching and blending on vehicle panels is beneficial
