Job description

As part of our Patient Access Center, you'll be a primary point of contact for patients and help them navigate their care from their very first conversation.

On a typical day, you might:

  • Answer a high volume of patient calls and accurately schedule appointments
  • Help patients understand PPCW services and what to expect at their visit
  • Enter and update patient information in Epic
  • Problem-solve patient questions and connect callers with the appropriate team or resources
  • Discuss fees, funding options, and basic insurance information
  • Process online appointment requests and assist with patient waitlists
  • Provide referrals when patients need services PPCW doesn't offer
  • Handle sensitive conversations with compassion, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Work toward individual and team service and productivity goals

You'll help create a positive patient experience while making it easier for people to access the care and information they need.

Schedule & Work Location

This is a part-time position (30 hours/week) that works primarily remotely.

Remote work must be performed within Oregon or Washington.

Occasional in-person attendance may be required for training or meetings. Travel expenses associated with required in-person days are the employee's responsibility.

You must be able to reliably work this schedule. Patient Access Center schedules may change based on call volume and staffing needs.

What We're Looking For

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Equivalent of 2 years of full-time work experience, including at least 1 year of customer service experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive, stressful, or challenging conversations professionally
  • Comfort working in a high-volume environment and managing multiple tasks
  • Computer proficiency, including data entry and keyboarding of at least 35 WPM
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn new systems
  • Ability to work independently while staying connected and communicating effectively with a remote team
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing processes, technology, and patient needs
Nice to Have
  • Call center experience
  • Front-line healthcare or social services experience
  • Experience scheduling appointments
  • Experience with Epic or another electronic health record system

Pay & Growth

$20.37–$29.68/hour

  • Bilingual premium: +$1.72/hour
  • Interpreter-level premium: +$3.44/hour

Pay is based on experience and internal equity. Most new hires start toward the lower end of the range, with room to grow.
