Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee's primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company's remote work guidelines.

Emergency Response: Yes - Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE's emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary
  • Manages multiple building/facility projects concurrently, through design, engineering, construction, commissioning, and closeout.   Manages projects utilizing  internal and external design & engineering resources, trades, and contractors. Responsible for monitoring and managing projects safely within the constraints of scope, quality, schedule, and budget.  Provides vision, leadership, and project work direction to key project engineering, procurement, project controls, and construction personnel for timely achievement of project goals and milestones. Delivers completed projects on a safe and timely basis, consistent with client needs and all applicable code and regulatory requirements.

Key Accountabilities
  • Determines project scope and detailed construction schedules; preparing construction project cost estimates and seeks agreement on scope, schedule, and budget through the development of the project charter.
  • Determines projects' design & construction requirements; selects appropriate delivery methods.
  • Manages all project design & construction aspects, including (but not limited to) permitting, inspection, safety, scheduling, estimating, budget, valve engineering, contract administration, code adherence, commissioning, and project close-out.
  • Functions as the Company liaison between the client and project service providers, ensuring coordination between building occupants and construction activities.
  • Manages project expenditures, the procurement of equipment and materials including the startup testing and acceptance of new equipment; provides daily management of on-site construction activities.Works in partnership with Supplychain Management in conducting bid meetings and reviews, supplier selection and evaluation; determines contracting strategy congruent with labor utilization strategies.
  • Manages change and risk with documented justification, approvals; and regular reporting, forecasting, reviews, and audits.  Implementing changes and mitigations in a timely manner.
  • Manages projects at commercial and industrial facilities, including (but not limited to) administrative offices, service centers, and fossil and nuclear power plants.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

This is a dual-track base requirement job; education and experience requirements can be satisfied through one of the following two options:

    Associate Degree in Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, Facilities Management or a directly related curriculum, and 5 years of experience managing or coordinating construction or facility related projects; OR
    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, Facilities Management or a directly related curriculum, and 3 years of experience managing or coordinating construction or facility related projects
 

Other Qualifications

Preferred

  • Knowledge of computer based software preferred in MS office suite tools including Project, Maximo, SAP, Autodesk tools (CAD, Revit, Navisworks, Construction Cloud), and SharePoint/Powerapps.
  • Multi-tasking capabilities: prioritizes, delegates & manages time and work flow effectively.
  • Analytical & decision-making abilities: makes decisions systematically; anticipates and mitigates problems, and understands decisions' business implications.
  • Adapts to change; open to new ideas and willingly takes on new responsibilities.
  • Communications (written & verbal): creates reports, designs and conducts presentations at all levels of the Corporation.  Good listening and negotiating skills
  • Influencing skills: provides feedback and coaching; works well in groups and with other departments and organizations

Other Requirements

  • Technology proficiency in relevant word processing, spreadsheet & database software (Windows, Word, Excel & Access)
  • Analytical & problem solving skills consistent with the job's project management responsibilities.
  • Written and verbal communication skills consistent with the job's project management responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in a 'team' or 'matrixed' structure, and lead a cohesive and productive group of clients, internal and external resources to affect the accomplishment of various project objectives.
  • Ability to conduct efficacious meetings & manage the meeting process.
