Power wash technicians, also known as pressure washers, are professionals who use high-pressure water spray to clean surfaces such as buildings, driveways, sidewalks, decks, and vehicles. They operate specialized equipment to remove dirt, mold, grime, paint, and other debris from various surfaces. Power wash technicians may work for cleaning companies, maintenance services, or as independent contractors, and must follow safety procedures to protect themselves and the surfaces they clean.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a power wash technician, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Power Wash Technician, you generally need physical stamina, attention to detail, and a basic understanding of cleaning techniques, often with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with pressure washing equipment, cleaning chemicals, and safety protocols is essential, and some employers may require OSHA safety certification. Strong communication, reliability, and customer service skills help technicians build trust and effectively address client needs. These skills and qualities ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality cleaning results while maintaining client satisfaction and workplace safety.

What are some common challenges faced by power wash technicians, and how can they be addressed on the job?

Power wash technicians often encounter challenges such as removing stubborn stains, working in varying weather conditions, and ensuring safety when handling high-pressure equipment. To address these issues, it is important to use the correct cleaning solutions for different surfaces, wear appropriate personal protective equipment, and follow safety protocols to prevent injuries. Regular equipment maintenance and clear communication with clients about expectations can also help technicians deliver effective results and maintain a safe work environment.

  • Set up and operate Rope Descent Systems (RDS) and scaffolding
  • Power wash facades and exterior surfaces with high-pressure equipment
  • Handle cleaning solutions such as chlorine and ammonia safely and to protocol
  • Load, transport, and maintain equipment and company vehicles

  • Follow OSHA-compliant safety protocols on every job, every day

What You Need
Required
  • Comfortable working at significant heights (up to 500 ft) in Florida weather

  • Valid Florida driver's license with 2+ years of Florida driving history
  • At least 2 months of hands-on aerial lift experience (boom lift, swing stage, or powered platform) - or a verifiable background working at heights
  • Willing to complete high-risk work training before or upon hire (we provide it)
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred - not required, we train
  • Rope access or rapid rope experience
  • SPRAT or IRATA certification

We invest in the right people. If you're safety-minded and steady at heights but don't yet have rope or lift experience, we still want to hear from you.
What You Get
  • Pay of $14-$28/hour based on experience and certification - top of range for experienced, certified rope access technicians
  • Steady, year-round work with overtime available
  • Free training and certification through the University of Clearview - we develop technicians from the ground up and help you earn the certifications that raise your pay
