Job description

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP (E2) is a professional services firm established in 1988 specializing in a full spectrum of engineering services including, project engineering and design, federal base operations and infrastructure support services, gas pipeline construction and inspection services, environmental consulting and remediation, and information technology services. At E2, we value safety, innovation and collaboration, and we are dedicated to excellence.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Enterprise AI & Power Platform Developer to design, develop, and operationalize secure AI-enabled solutions across the Guardian enterprise.

This is a hands-on technical role focused on turning approved business use cases into practical, production-ready solutions using technologies such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Microsoft Power Platform, Dataverse, Power Automate, APIs, Azure services, and custom development.

The successful candidate will serve as a primary technical resource for enterprise AI implementation. This individual should be comfortable building conventional Power Platform applications and integrations as well as AI-enabled solutions involving conversational agents, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), enterprise data grounding, document processing, intelligent automation, and agent-driven workflows.

We are not looking to apply AI to every business problem. The successful candidate must understand when AI provides meaningful value, when deterministic automation or conventional application development is more appropriate, and how the technologies can work together in a secure and supportable enterprise architecture.

This role will work closely with IT leadership, the Senior Power Platform Developer / Technical Lead, Business Systems Analysts, cybersecurity resources, business stakeholders, and other technical teams.

  • Design and develop enterprise AI solutions using Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, AI Builder, and related Microsoft technologies.
  • Build conversational agents and AI-enabled workflows that securely interact with enterprise information and business processes.
  • Design and implement RAG and enterprise grounding patterns using appropriate structured and unstructured data sources, including Dataverse, Microsoft 365, APIs, databases, and approved enterprise repositories.
  • Develop agent actions and integrations that allow AI solutions to safely retrieve information or initiate business processes through APIs, Power Automate, custom connectors, Azure Functions, and other approved services.
  • Design appropriate human-in-the-loop controls, approval mechanisms, escalation paths, and safeguards for AI-assisted business processes.
  • Develop Power Platform solutions using Power Apps, Dataverse, Power Automate, Power Pages, and related technologies where they form part of the overall solution.
  • Design and consume REST APIs and develop custom connectors and integration components for internal and third-party systems.
  • Develop supporting services and extensions using technologies such as Python, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management, and other Azure services when appropriate.
  • Implement AI-assisted document processing, extraction, classification, summarization, search, knowledge retrieval, and workflow automation where appropriate.
  • Design AI solutions that respect existing identity, authorization, role-based security, data classification, and least-privilege requirements
  • Implement controls for AI grounding, prompt management, output validation, hallucination reduction, content safety, sensitive information handling, and responsible AI use.
  • Establish repeatable approaches for evaluating the quality and reliability of AI responses, including testing against expected use cases and failure scenarios.
  • Implement monitoring and operational visibility for AI solutions, including usage, errors, performance, adoption, token or credit consumption, and other relevant cost metrics.
  • Support application lifecycle management through Solutions, source control, environment variables, connection references, automated deployments, testing, and CI/CD processes established by the Power Platform Technical Lead.
  • Participate in technical reviews and document AI patterns, integrations, prompts, agent configurations, architectural decisions, lessons learned, and reusable components.
  • Develop reusable AI and automation patterns that can accelerate future enterprise initiatives while avoiding unnecessary duplication.
  • Evaluate new Microsoft AI and Power Platform capabilities as they evolve and recommend practical opportunities for adoption.
  • Assist with prototypes and proofs of concept while ensuring successful solutions can transition into secure, maintainable production implementations.

Success in the Role

  • Early success in this position will include:
  • Turning approved enterprise AI opportunities into functional production solutions rather than isolated demonstrations or prototypes.
  • Establishing reusable patterns for Copilot Studio, enterprise grounding, agent actions, AI integrations, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
  • Integrating AI securely with Dataverse, Microsoft 365, enterprise applications, APIs, and other approved data sources.
  • Demonstrating disciplined judgment about when AI should—and should not—be used.
  • Implementing appropriate testing, security, monitoring, governance, and cost controls for AI solutions.
  • Working effectively with the Power Platform Technical Lead so that AI initiatives follow common architecture, security, development, and ALM standards.
  • Helping the organization adopt new AI capabilities without creating unsupported technology, unnecessary complexity, or unmanaged risk.

  • Significant professional experience developing production business applications, integrations, automation, AI solutions, or related enterprise technologies.
  • Recent hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse.
  • Hands-on experience with Copilot Studio or comparable enterprise conversational/agent development technologies.
  • Experience implementing solutions using generative AI, large language models, RAG, enterprise knowledge grounding, or AI-enabled workflow automation.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, authentication, authorization, and system integration.
  • Professional development experience with one or more languages such as Python, C#, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Experience working with Azure services used to extend enterprise applications and AI solutions.
  • Understanding of identity, role-based access, secure application development, and protection of enterprise data.
  • Experience moving solutions through structured Development, Test/UAT, and Production environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex solutions spanning Power Platform, AI services, APIs, Azure components, and enterprise data sources.
  • Ability to independently evaluate technical requirements, identify tradeoffs, and explain technical recommendations to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree.
  • 3+ Years of Relevant Work Experience.

Preferred Experience

  • Azure AI Foundry and Azure OpenAI.
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector search, embeddings, semantic search, or related enterprise knowledge architectures.
  • AI agent orchestration, tool/function calling, multi-agent systems, or event-driven agent workflows.
  • Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, API Management, Key Vault, Storage, Azure SQL, or similar Azure services.
  • Microsoft Graph and Microsoft 365 integrations.
  • Dataverse plugins, custom APIs, PCF controls, or other Power Platform extensions.
  • Azure DevOps, GitHub, CI/CD, and Power Platform application lifecycle management.
  • Power Platform governance, Managed Environments, Data Loss Prevention policies, and enterprise connector controls.
  • Microsoft Purview, data classification, information protection, or related governance technologies.
  • Power BI, Fabric, Databricks, Azure AI Search, Document Intelligence, or other enterprise data and analytics services.
  • Dynamics 365 integration or customization.
  • Experience implementing AI or automation in regulated or security-conscious environments.
