As an Associate Project Engineer you will support project engineering activities related to multiple projects across the Valero ethanol fleet. Provide engineering support from conception through completion including the development, design and execution of capital, expense and maintenance projects in a safe and efficient manner.

Utilize Project Development and Execution Processes (PDEP).

Support development the business case in phase 1.

Help define project objectives early in phase 2, prior to analyzing alternatives.

Support in the development of commissioning and start up requirements as part of the project execution plan.

Contribute to cost estimating and oversight of project budget.

Track any scope and change management items.

Prepare justification, cost estimates and other project documents as required for approval with oversight.

Provide oversight of installation, startup and performance testing of multiple projects.

Support requirements for compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management regulations, including but not limited to the maintenance of documentation such as MOCs, P&IDs, isometrics, and equipment specifications.

Track cost, schedule, safety and quality performance of projects relative to the capital budget.

Contribute to the selection and evaluation of engineering and construction contractors. Provide feedback on performance to ensure quality, safety and cost effectiveness.

Report project status and forecasting.

  • Update documentation amended through the capital projects and MOC process.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Relocation assistance available.

Qualifications
  • Able and willing to work on-site and in-person at the Valero Renewables Plant located in Bluffton, Linden, or Mount Vernon, Indiana, required.
Preferred Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil, Agriculture or Bio Systems Engineering, preferred.

Experience in non-destructive testing, preferred.

  • Experience in ethanol production, chemical processing, food processing, oil refining, or in the power plant industry, preferred.
