Position Description
The TS Power Plant is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to help lead the safe and reliable operation of a 200 MW photovoltaic (PV) solar facility and a 242 MW coal-fired thermal power plant. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for guiding a team of operators through daily plant operations while ensuring safety, performance, and environmental standards are consistently met.
As an Operations Supervisor, you will lead a 7-person operations crew, directing control room and field activities during startup, shutdown, and normal plant operations. You'll serve as a key leader on shift-coordinating with plant leadership, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting continuous improvement efforts that enhance reliability and efficiency.
This role is ideal for a motivated leader who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, mentoring team members, and playing a critical role in maintaining reliable power generation that supports site operations.

Responsibilities
  • Direct daily activities for on-shift crew to safely operate power plant equipment including: turbines, generators, boilers, selective catalytic reduction (SCR), spray dry adsorber (SDA), baghouse, mercury removal, water treatment, coal handling, heavy equipment and photovoltaic solar systems using Emerson Ovation DCS control.
  • Communicate with energy trading partner and utility Balancing Authority.
  • Directly supervise, support, and develop power plant operations crew
  • Provide training and mentoring for operators
  • Develop a safe, productive, and high-performing crew while working collaboratively within the framework of the site team and company enterprise
  • Conduct individual employee evaluations
  • Trouble shoot plant issues.
  • Update employee training records and status upgrades
  • Establish and refine operating strategies and procedures to ensure equipment is utilized to its optimum extent
  • Perform SAP medium-user duties including: OTL (Oracle Time Labor) entry and approval, MSS (Manager Self Service), work requests, work orders, move orders,
  • Maintain accurate logs of plant operations, equipment readings, commodity usage, and performance metrics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Five (5) + years of experience in coal handling, rail yard operations, or a similar industrial environment.
  • One (1) + years of supervisory or team lead experience in a heavy industrial or rail setting.
  • Familiarity with coal handling systems, trackside safety, and locomotive logistics is essential.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration), FRA (Federal Railroad Administration), and environmental compliance standards.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot basic equipment problems.
  • Proficiency with inventory and yard management software is a plus
