Job description

Description

Looking for an opportunity to make an impact?

The Leidos Energy, Infrastructure, and Automation operation helps utilities address complex challenges through comprehensive, performance-based solutions delivered across the full project lifecycle. Our capabilities include engineering, planning, project management, construction management, and commissioning services for electric power substations, transmission and distribution systems, protection and controls design, and electrification programs. Utilities nationwide rely on Leidos for trusted power industry expertise, demonstrated by our work with more than 75 investor-owned utilities and over 100 municipal and cooperative utilities, as well as a growing portfolio of private developer clients.

Your greatest work is ahead!

Leidos' Energy and Infrastructure Consulting (E&IC) Division is hiring for a Power Plant Subject Matter Expert (Electrical Engineer). You will apply a strong working knowledge of electrical design, construction, operation and maintenance, and interconnection of power generation facilities, as well as related contractual agreements. The candidate is expected to work in a team setting to support project managers during transactional due diligence. As a valued team member, you will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with opportunities for career development and growth.

Location: Fully remote but must be currently located within the United States. Commuting distance to Denver, CO or Framingham, MA is a plus.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Perform electrical design and interconnection review of power plant, substation, and transmission projects and prepare associated reports.

  • Attend power plant, substation, and transmission project meetings to confirm status of site E&IC construction and operation and maintenance.

  • Manage client engagements and ongoing relationships. Clients will include private equity, infrastructure, and hedge funds, investment and commercial banks, private developers, legal and financial advisors, original equipment providers, DOE, and EIA.

  • Present work product results and findings to client executives.

  • Conduct business development activities both through internal collaboration and directly with clients and prospects.

  • Support projects and project team members working both independently and in collaboration with other colleagues and managers.

  • Develop and expand key client relationships.

What does Leidos need from me?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required with eight plus years of experience in electrical operation, maintenance and/or design of power generation and substation assets or similar experience, including specific knowledge of AC and DC electrical systems, controls, and protection relaying.

  • Experience with or ability to apply oneself to a broad range of power generation technologies, including wind generation, solar PV generation, battery energy storage systems, and thermal generation.

  • Successful track record maintaining client relations and working with clients both internal and external.

  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is preferred.

  • The job may require as much as 25 percent travel.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Favorable if you have:

  • Direct experience with electrical equipment such as synchronous generators, excitation, inverters, motors, transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, capacitor banks, and transmission lines is a plus.

If you're looking for comfort, keep scrolling. At Leidos, we outthink, outbuild, and outpace the status quo — because the mission demands it. We're not hiring followers. We're recruiting the ones who disrupt, provoke, and refuse to fail. Step 10 is ancient history. We're already at step 30 — and moving faster than anyone else dares.

Original Posting:April 29, 2026

For U.S. Positions: While subject to change based on business needs, Leidos reasonably anticipates that this job requisition will remain open for at least 3 days with an anticipated close date of no earlier than 3 days after the original posting date as listed above.

Pay Range:Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
