Job description

Position Overview

Power Your Future with Qualus in our T&D Canada business as a Engineer III - Structural. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC office. Responsibilities
  • Contribute to structural design, technical support and quality assurance/quality control review including calculations, design, design drawing reviews from conceptual level to detailed design for substation facilities, including equipment support structures and footings, transmission towers & poles and control room and indoor GIS switchgear buildings
  • Perform structural analysis and modeling using  industry-standard software such as SAP2000, LPILE, SAFE, and MathCAD
  • Preparation and review of detailed design documents including design basis, design reports, design plans, construction specifications, field review plans and reports
  • Review of vendor documents against specifications
  • Respond to requests from construction sites and complete project documentation, including as-builts, calculations, and returning data to clients
  • Coordinate and oversee the development of project resource planning, scope, schedule, and budget for a structural discipline project team
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with our external business partners; present information and respond to questions from individual or groups of clients
  • Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data
  • Mentor less experienced engineering team members
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery
Minimum Qualifications
  • Structural Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with a Canadian Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) or the ability to register as a Professional Engineer with EGBC
  • 5 - 8 years of structural engineering design experience
  • Experience with structural design for utility substations, particularly projects for BC Hydro is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of applicable Canadian codes and standards, including Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and CSA standards, as well as North American transmission structure design standards
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
