A Snapshot of Your Day
As Mechanical Engineer - Generator Service Engineering on the Auxiliaries Team, you'll play a critical role in keeping some of the world's most advanced power generation technologies running reliably and efficiently. You'll lead the mechanical analysis and design of generator auxiliary systems and components, including Hydrogen Cooling Systems, Seal Oil Systems, Stator Water Cooling Systems, Heat Exchangers, Pumps, and Piping Systems, driving solutions that support customer orders, field service initiatives, and long-term product performance. From tackling complex engineering challenges to implementing impactful design improvements, you'll help deliver innovative solutions that enhance generator reliability and support the global energy transition.
Working within the Auxiliaries team and collaborating across the broader Generator Engineering organization, you'll contribute to order execution, customer support, technical negotiations, product issue resolution, and R&D initiatives. With a strong focus on change management, this role offers the opportunity to influence the future of generator technology while making a direct impact on operational excellence, customer success, and sustainable energy generation worldwide.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Support service solution development, product improvements, and technology strategy for global generator auxiliaries while mentoring engineers and promoting engineering best practices.
  • Drive resolution of operational and fleet issues by developing innovative package fluid systems designs, service products, and optimized service procedures supporting generator cooling, lubrication, sealing, and auxiliary support systems.
  • Support global hardware design harmonization and modernization initiatives, partnering with engineering, vendors, field service, and customers to execute upgrades and improvements.
  • Provide technical expertise in generator auxiliary systems and package fluid systems, participate in steering groups, and share knowledge through collaborative forums and cross-functional decision-making.
  • Collaborate on Technical Inquiries (TIs) and Significant Fleet Issues (SFIs), applying advanced troubleshooting methodologies and coaching teams on effective problem resolution.
  • Develop and release engineering documentation including P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and layouts, while performing system calculations for fluid flow, heat transfer, auxiliary electrical loads, and equipment weights.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience in fluid mechanics, heat transfer, materials engineering, and industrial fluid systems design. Experience supporting generator cooling, lubrication, sealing, heat transfer, and piping systems is preferred.
  • Experience managing cost, schedule, and quality requirements for engineering projects.
  • Working knowledge of applicable U.S. and European engineering codes and standards.
  • Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing junior engineers.
  • Experience with generator auxiliary systems, rotating equipment, power generation equipment, package fluid systems, and root cause analysis is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10-15% domestically and internationally.
  • Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
