JOB TITLE: Control Equipment Technician (CET)
REPORTS TO: Engineering Services Manager
PURPOSE: Troubleshoot the weaving machines, have knowledge concerning the operation of fans, motors, and pumps, the ability to perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on auxiliary equipment, needs an understanding of electrical circuit boards and integrate circuits
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Knowledge of all general plant safety rules & safety absolutes.
2) Operate equipment in a safe manner
3) Meet production goals set-out by department manager
4) Follow proper policies and procedures set out by department and location
5) Provide timely response to safety concerns and equipment failures
6) Maintain working condition and perform minor repairs on wide range of facilities and auxiliary equipment
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Ability to read and write and follow directions
  2. Ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
  3. Basic Math (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  4. Good communication skills
  5. Strong discipline and ability to work both alone and in groups

MACHINES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT: lift truck, tuggers, computer, band saw, grinder, welding torch, cutting torch, lathe, refrigeration machine, fluke meter, oscilloscope, air handling equipment, (pumps, fans, and controls), water jet weaving machine, hoist, electric hand tools, screwdrivers, wrenches, ladders, leno winder, solder equipment, personal protective equipment, vibration analysis equipment, drum filter, circuit board
SAFETY EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Hearing protection in certain areas of the plant, steel toe shoes, gloves, goggles, welding shield, gloves, aprons, earplugs, Arc Flash uniform, harness
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Basic written and communication skills
  2. Must be able to hear power equipment operating in work area
  3. Must be able to see clearly and pass pre-employment drug screening
  4. Must be able to rotate shifts (1st and 3rd)

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES:
  1. Knowledge of support operator policies and procedures
  2. Completing daily team maintenance (DTM) activities
  3. Auditing safety items in department
  4. Two-year technical degree or equivalent in electronics

AUTHORIZED TRAINING TIME:
One Year
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: FREQUENCY, AMOUNT, OR DESCRIPTION
  1. Standing: 60% of time at a standstill position welding, on ladders, etc.
  2. Sitting: 10% of time spent working on circuit boards, computers, and break times.
  3. Moving: 50% of time going to machines (max distance-approx. 250 ft.) getting supplies, checking condition in penthouse on roof twice per shift; walking down slope to pump station.
  4. Climbing: 5% on ladders, stairs on outside on plant to penthouse (45 stairs), working on pipes in ceiling
  5. Lifting: Must be able to lift 1-20lbs 10-50 times a day.
  6. Reaching: Must be able to reach objects on shelves or in filing cabinets which may be above shoulder height (5ft), must be able to reach and use all equipment mentioned, reaching a distance of 2-3 feet.
  7. Pushing/ Pulling: Pull main motor on dolly (10lbs), file cabinets, desk drawers, etc. approx. 50-75 times/day
  8. Visual Acuity: Must be able to read instructional material, reference manuals, meters, computer screens
  9. Bending/Stooping: Must be able to access lowest level filing cabinets and bins a minimum of 4-5 times a day, pick up items, motors, tools, get in crawl spaces, filing cabinets, desk drawers, work on a forklift.
  10. Other: Must comply with the Company rules, including but not limited to Safety, Attendance, and other job specifications.
