Power Bi Support information

What is Power BI Support?

Power BI Support refers to the assistance provided to users and organizations in using Microsoft Power BI, a business analytics service. Support professionals help troubleshoot technical issues, guide users on report creation and data visualization, manage data connections, and ensure optimal performance of Power BI dashboards and reports. They also assist with updates, licensing, and integration with other Microsoft services. The goal is to ensure that users can effectively leverage Power BI for data-driven decision making.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Power BI Support specialist?

To thrive as a Power BI Support specialist, you need strong analytical skills, knowledge of data visualization concepts, proficiency in Power BI, and often a degree in computer science or a related field. Experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, SQL, and familiarity with data connectors and cloud platforms like Azure are typically required. Outstanding problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and customer service orientation set top performers apart in this role. These skills ensure effective troubleshooting, user empowerment, and optimal use of business intelligence tools to drive data-driven decision-making.

What are the most common challenges faced in a Power BI Support role, and how can they be addressed?

In a Power BI Support role, professionals often encounter challenges such as troubleshooting complex data connectivity issues, optimizing slow dashboards, and managing user permissions across workspaces. To address these, it's important to have a strong understanding of both Power BI's technical features and organizational data structures. Collaborating closely with data engineers, report developers, and end-users helps ensure quick resolution of issues and continuous improvement in report quality. Staying up-to-date with the latest Power BI updates and best practices further enhances your ability to provide effective support.

Job Details

We are seeking a hands‑on Data & BI Manager to lead a five‑person team across Data Engineering and Power BI while playing a key role in modernizing the organization's enterprise data architecture.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who has grown from a technical IT or data engineering background into leadership but still enjoys being close to the technology.

You’ll work across Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Oracle, and Salesforce, helping create a more scalable and reliable data environment supporting Finance, Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, and Sales.

The role will have meaningful influence over architecture decisions, data modeling, BI strategy, and how information moves from source systems through the organization. You’ll partner closely with senior leadership to develop the roadmap, prioritize projects, and translate complex business requirements into practical technical solutions.

You’ll also lead and develop a talented technical team, bringing structure, accountability, and mentorship while remaining willing to roll up your sleeves alongside them when needed.

What You'll Bring
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Microsoft Fabric
  • Data architecture modernization and data modeling experience
  • Strong understanding of Power BI and enterprise reporting environments
  • Technical foundation in IT, Data Engineering, BI, or Data Architecture
  • Ability to understand complex data flows across multiple enterprise systems
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or developing technical professionals
  • Organized, collaborative leadership style with the ability to operate both strategically and hands‑on

Experience within manufacturing, transportation, logistics, distribution, or another operationally complex environment is especially valuable.

What Success Looks Like

Within your first year, you’ll have helped establish a clear roadmap for the organization's future data architecture, strengthened the connection between Data Engineering and BI, improved the reliability and accessibility of enterprise reporting, and developed a team increasingly viewed as a strategic partner to the business.

A bit about us

Our client is an established transportation and logistics organization with complex operations spanning supply chain, logistics, commercial, and financial functions. As the organization continues to modernize its technology environment, it is making a significant investment in its data architecture, engineering, and business intelligence capabilities.

This is a highly visible opportunity to lead an existing five‑person Data Engineering and BI team while helping shape the future architecture of the organization's data environment.

Why join us?
  • $170K–$200K base + 15% bonus, with flexibility for an exceptional candidate
  • Up to $25K in relocation assistance
  • Clear growth path toward Associate Director / Director
  • Lead an established team of 5 across Data Engineering and Power BI
  • Serve as the technical right hand to a Director with a Finance background
  • Own meaningful data architecture modernization
  • Play a key role as the organization moves through an Oracle implementation
  • Work across Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Salesforce, Oracle, and industry‑specific operational systems
  • Opportunity to solve a major business problem: creating data the organization actually trusts
  • High visibility across Finance, Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, and Sales
