Job description

Compensation Range: $105,000 - $115,000
Location: US Based Remote
The Mortgage Business Intelligence & Analytics team oversees all activities and functions involved with the company's Business Intelligence platform, giving mortgage company business leaders access to reliable, actionable data to better manage and understand the business and drive company growth.
We are seeking a Sr. Business Intelligence Reporting Analyst to drive the development of our Power BI reporting environment. The Reporting Analyst will be responsible for creating impactful dashboards and reports which deliver meaningful data to our business leaders to achieve organizational goals. This role will do more than compile tabular data; this role will have an opportunity to use data to tell a story, and help our team, as well as business leaders, derive meaningful insights.
The right candidate will have a strong background with Power BI. They will be detail oriented, with the ability to infer business needs and develop reporting solutions using data visualization best practices including leveraging Gestalt principles, Storytelling with Data, and visualization selection principals. They will proactively run data quality checks to ensure the integrity of the information being delivered. Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn, becoming a subject matter expert to coincide with technical fluency. Stays abreast of the latest Power BI features and identifies the right opportunities for implementation.Builds robust reports and dashboards leveraging everything from complex DAX calculations to advanced visualization techniques to meet bespoke business requirements.
What you will be doing:
Report Development (50%)
  • Build effective and efficient reports and dashboards using best practices in data presentation and design language
  • Migrate existing reporting inventory to a centralized semantic model
  • Leverage Valtrune to complete full data and report validation
  • Automate/streamline manual processes

Data Transformation/Preparation (20%)
  • Use advanced SQL techniques and multi-stage transformation methodologies to normalize, cleanse, and standardize inconsistent datasets
  • Infer and establish relationships between disparate data sources and systems of record to support unified reporting and analytics
  • Transform raw source data into reporting-layer-ready objects, including the creation of synthetic keys derived from non-standardized attributes

Semantic Model Maintenance (15%)
  • Update semantic models to support new reporting needs
  • Monitor model efficiency and implement changes as needed to optimize performance

Analysis (10%)
  • Identify pertinent trends to share with leaders
  • Proactively dive headfirst into data to offer deeper insights into high/low performing KPIs

Documentation (5%)
  • Document report development processes for business contingency purposes
  • Maintain semantic model documentation, including data sources and table relationships
  • Maintain an index of all active reports, including data lineage, purpose, and audience
  • Maintain reporting changelog

Qualifications
  • 4+ years' experience in a data or business intelligence focused role
  • 4+ years creating BI dashboards and reports with a focus on data visualization and storytelling with a high proficiency using Power BI
  • 4+ years writing SQL queries for data mining
  • Ability to independently understand data through business context, exploration, and logical connections
  • Mortgage experience preferred

This opportunity is fully remote with the option to work from our offices in San Diego, CA, Irvine, CA, or Omaha, NE for those who prefer an office environment. You will be joining a dynamic, fully remote team which is distributed across time zones.
