Job Summary:
Sunrise Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Data & Analytics Engineer to join their IT Data & Analytics Team. This role focuses on building and maintaining scalable data solutions, collaborating with business stakeholders, and leveraging cloud technologies such as Snowflake and Power BI to drive data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain ELT pipelines
• Develop data models and architecture

• Support enterprise-level data integration and reporting
• Serve as the primary data and analytics partner for assigned business areas, building strong relationships with business leaders and key stakeholders.
• Lead discovery sessions, requirements gathering, and solution design workshops to understand business objectives, challenges, and opportunities.
• Translate business strategies and analytical needs into scalable data and analytics solutions.
• Develop and maintain solution roadmaps aligned to business priorities and enterprise data strategy.
• Influence prioritization, scope, and solution direction through data-driven decision-making and strong stakeholder engagement.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Drive alignment across business and technology teams while proactively managing expectations, risks, dependencies, and delivery outcomes.

• Design and architect scalable analytics solutions leveraging Snowflake, dbt, and Power BI.
• Lead conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling efforts utilizing both dimensional and relational modeling techniques.
• Apply modern data architecture principles to create sustainable, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
• Develop source-to-target mappings, transformation logic, and data lineage documentation.
• Establish and promote best practices for analytics engineering, data governance, data quality, and platform design.
• Lead architecture reviews, technical design discussions, and strategic data initiatives.
• Design, build, test, deploy, and support dbt models, transformation frameworks, and analytics solutions.
• Develop scalable ELT solutions utilizing Snowflake and modern data integration tools.
• Build curated analytics datasets and semantic models that enable enterprise reporting and self-service analytics.
• Optimize data pipelines and transformations for performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Implement automated testing, monitoring, and data quality controls throughout the analytics lifecycle.
• Support CI/CD and DevOps practices within the analytics engineering environment.
• Design and implement Snowflake databases, schemas, and data products.
• Optimize Snowflake performance, storage utilization, and query efficiency.
• Leverage Snowflake capabilities including streams, tasks, dynamic tables, secure views, and data sharing.
• Partner with platform and infrastructure teams to ensure security, governance, reliability, and operational excellence.
• Contribute to the evolution of Baird's cloud data platform strategy and standards.
• Design and develop Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and reports that deliver actionable business insights.
• Implement best practices for data visualization, performance optimization, and user experience.
• Enable self-service analytics through scalable datasets and reporting frameworks.
• Provide training, mentoring, and support to business stakeholders and analytics consumers.
• Champion adoption of analytics solutions and drive measurable business value.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5–7+ years of experience
• Strong SQL skills (critical)
• Experience with: Cloud data platforms (Snowflake preferred), dbt or similar tools, Cloud ETL tools, Python for pipeline/environment development
• Proven ability to: Work in larger enterprise environments, Collaborate across teams, Engage stakeholders effectively
• Personality fit: Must be humble, collaborative, and easy to work with
• 7+ years of experience delivering enterprise data and analytics solutions in complex environments
• Demonstrated success leading stakeholder engagement, business discovery, requirements gathering, and solution design initiatives
• Proven ability to influence business partners and translate business needs into technical solutions
• Strong expertise in dimensional modeling, data warehousing, analytics engineering, and data architecture practices
• Experience designing and implementing end-to-end cloud-based data and analytics solutions
• Advanced SQL development and performance optimization skills
• Strong understanding of data governance, lineage, metadata management, and data quality concepts
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving both business and technology teams
• Experience working within Agile delivery environments
