Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Software Engineer - Analytics Engineering with deep expertise in semantic modeling, DAX, and the Microsoft Fabric analytics ecosystem. This role is responsible for designing, optimizing, and maintaining enterprise-grade Power BI semantic models that deliver accurate, scalable, and actionable insights across the organization. The ideal candidate combines strong technical modeling expertise with business acumen, collaboration skills, and a commitment to data quality, governance, and performance.
This position is required to report to the Austin, TX or Somerset, NJ location on a hybrid basis.
Role Description
Semantic Modeling and DAX
  • Design, build, and optimize Power BI semantic models using Power BI Desktop, Tabular Editor, and related modeling tools.
  • Develop advanced DAX measures and calculations to support complex business logic, reporting requirements, and analytical use cases.
  • Ensure semantic models are scalable, maintainable, high-performing, and aligned with enterprise standards and best practices.
  • Optimize semantic models within Microsoft Fabric, including performance tuning, model architecture, refresh processes, and usability.
  • Troubleshoot Power BI models, measures, and refresh processes to improve reliability, efficiency, and user experience.

Microsoft Fabric and Analytics Engineering
  • Develop and maintain Power BI datasets, reports, dataflows, and related assets supporting enterprise analytics solutions.
  • Implement row-level security, incremental refresh, and other Power BI capabilities to support secure and efficient reporting.
  • Work within Microsoft Fabric to deliver analytics solutions across lakehouse, warehouse, data pipeline, and semantic model components.
  • Apply data modeling, analytics engineering, and performance optimization techniques to meet business and technical requirements.
  • Support the design and delivery of scalable and governed enterprise analytics platforms.

Collaboration, Governance, and Enablement
  • Partner with data engineers, analysts, business stakeholders, and report developers to understand requirements and deliver trusted analytics solutions.
  • Support BI governance initiatives through documentation, data quality practices, Microsoft Purview alignment, and version control processes.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and support to end users, analysts, and junior developers.
  • Promote standards for semantic model design, naming conventions, documentation, security, governance, and lifecycle management.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or relevant work experience required
  • 5+ years of experience developing Power BI solutions, including semantic models, reports, and enterprise analytics assets.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI tools such as Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, and ALM Toolkit.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Fabric, including semantic models and analytics workloads.
  • Familiarity with lakehouse storage concepts and file formats such as Parquet and Delta.
  • Experience with Agile delivery practices and version control using GitHub or similar tools.
  • Ability to travel 10%

Preferred
  • Certification in Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or related Microsoft data platforms.
  • Experience using Python for data analysis, automation, or analytics engineering workflows.
  • Experience with PowerApps automation and Copilot Studio.

The estimated annual pay range for this position is $125,000 - $140,000 which includes a base salary. The compensation for this position is dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location and, therefore, will vary from individual to individual. Benefits may include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending.
