Job description

Overview/ Job Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to join our data visualization team. In this role, you will support our lead BI developer and help maintain and enhance our business intelligence dashboards and reports, support the migration of legacy reports and creating new, high-impact Power BI solutions. You will interface with key stakeholders and leverage your technical proficiency throughout the migration process, as well as design and develop advanced interactive dashboards that drive insights and support strategic data-driven decision-making. This position requires a robust combination of technical expertise, analytical skills, and a deep understanding of data visualization best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Dashboard Development: Collaborate and support business units to design, develop, and maintain advanced Power BI dashboards and reports that effectively communicate complex data insights to stakeholders.
  • Data Integration: Partner with the data engineering team to integrate Power BI with various data sources, ensuring data accuracy and implementing necessary data transformations.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Conduct in-depth data analysis to support business decisions, identify trends, and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Performance Optimization: Optimize Power BI dashboards for performance and usability, ensuring rapid load times and intuitive user experiences.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with business users to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for developed Power BI dashboards, data models, and processes.

Training & Support: Provide training and mentorship to junior developers and end-users on Power BI usage, best practices, and data visualization techniques.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
  • Experience building dashboards and reports, business intelligence, and data analysis.
  • Experience with data integration, semantic and dimension modeling, and DAX programming.
  • Experience leveraging Microsoft power platform.
  • Improving data processing speed by building SQL automations.

Strong Understanding:
  • Data warehousing concepts.
  • ETL/ELT processes.
  • Data security implementation.
  • AWS S3, Databricks Lakehouse, Azure Data Lake, SQL server, oracle databases.

Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Power BI Desktop, DAX programming, data modeling, and cloud integration.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with data querying and manipulation.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts and experience with databases.
  • Familiarity with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView) is a plus.
  • Collaborate with the data engineering team to develop and maintain ETL pipelines, ensuring data accuracy and integrity for front-end reporting in Power BI.

  • Good experience in end-to-end implementation of data warehouse and data marts.

Clearance Preference:
  • Active DHS/CISA suitability - 1st priority
  • Any DHS badge + DoD Top Secret - 2nd choice
  • DoD Top Secret + willingness to obtain DHS/CISA suitability - 3rd choice (it can take 10-60 days to obtain suitability - work can only begin once suitability is fully adjudicated)
