Job description

Job Summary:
Deerfield Academy is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer who will bridge technical development and business insight by designing, building, and maintaining data solutions that empower decision-making across the institution. The successful candidate will work on building dashboards, developing SQL-based data pipelines, and collaborating with various departments to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain dashboards and reports using modern BI tools to provide actionable insights for business stakeholders;
• Design, develop, and maintain robust SQL-based data pipelines and transformations to support analytics and reporting needs;
• Design and implement ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) processes and ensures data integrity across multiple systems;
• Collaborate with departments to understand business workflows and translates requirements into technical solutions;
• Develop and support applications and interfaces that integrate with ERP and other enterprise systems;
• Analyze business processes and recommend improvements based on data insights;
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and provide training/documentation as needed;
• Test and validate new features, upgrades, and data processes;
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field is required
• 3-5 years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, analytics, or application development is required; experience in an academic environment is highly desired
• Strong proficiency in SQL, data modeling and data transformation techniques (CTEs, window functions, procedures functions, query optimization, etc.) to support analytics workflows
• Strong data storytelling skills with experience building dashboards and reports that deliver actionable insights to business stakeholders
• Business acumen with the ability to integrate data across multiple systems and align solutions to organizational decision-making needs
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases
• Experience with BI/dashboard tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Domo, SAP Crystal Reports)
• Familiarity with ERP systems and integration methodologies
• Experience with version control (git, GitHub)
• Strong initiative and the ability to be self-directed, resourceful and creative
• Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
• Strong customer service orientation, teamwork and collaborative mindset
• Eager to master new and emerging technologies, including AI and cloud data platforms
• Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and modern web technologies
• Experience trouble-shooting problems caused by programming bugs, data anomalies, and system errors
