Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Business Analytics, the Principal Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for strategic business partnership and growing analytics competencies within the BI team and across the enterprise.
You will partner closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, lead complex, cross-functional requirements discovery sessions and translate strategic business needs into executable analytics roadmaps, solution concepts, development epics, and prioritized workstreams.
Additionally, this role will be responsible for promoting data quality, governance standards, and delivering high-value analytics to the enterprise, while ensuring Agile delivery practices are being adopted and followed by the BI team, data team, and other key stakeholder groups in Ledcor.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deliver business intelligence, analytics, and reporting solutions that support operational and strategic decision-making across the organization
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to assess new reporting and analytics requests, facilitate requirements gathering sessions, refine user stories, and translate business needs into scalable data and reporting solutions
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards, reports, semantic models, and data visualizations that provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making
  • Utilize Jira, Confluence, GitHub, and related tools to manage development activities and ensure adherence to Agile and best-practice software development lifecycle methodologies
  • Work closely with business units and leadership teams to deliver recurring insights, performance reporting, and recommendations that drive business outcomes and continuous improvement
  • Review, optimize, and maintain analytics assets across platforms such as Power BI, Databricks, Sigma, and related technologies, including data models, transformation logic, calculations, and reporting components
  • Maintain and enhance ETL processes, Power Query transformations, DAX calculations, and report design standards to ensure data accuracy, performance, usability, and scalability
  • Lead discovery sessions, requirements workshops, and stakeholder engagements to prioritize initiatives, define solution designs, manage expectations, and develop delivery roadmaps
  • Provide strategic guidance on data and analytics initiatives, including reporting architecture, self-service analytics, data governance, metric standardization, data quality, platform adoption, and data product development
  • Identify opportunities to improve data availability, reporting consistency, business processes, and analytical maturity, while effectively communicating complex technical and analytical concepts to executives, business stakeholders, and technical teams through presentations, workshops, data storytelling, coaching, and change management activities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience designing and delivering business intelligence, analytics, reporting, or data visualization solutions in a complex enterprise environment
  • Proven experience gathering, analyzing, and translating business requirements into scalable technical, analytical, and reporting deliverables
  • Extensive experience working with large, complex datasets and transforming data into actionable insights that support business decision-making
  • Strong experience with cloud-based analytics and data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure, or equivalent technologies
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including Power Query, DAX, semantic modeling, data visualization, dashboard development, and report design
  • Strong understanding of data architecture principles, including data integration, data management, modeling, governance, quality, security, and lifecycle management
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational database technologies, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex business challenges
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms, with the ability to manage work through user stories and sprint-based methodologies
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience supporting analytics initiatives in construction, engineering, telecommunications, infrastructure, or related industries is considered a strong asset
