A Power Automate job refers to an automated workflow or process created using Microsoft Power Automate. It enables users to connect apps, services, and data to streamline repetitive tasks, improve productivity, and reduce manual effort. These jobs can include actions like sending notifications, syncing files, collecting data, or automating approvals. Power Automate supports both cloud-based and desktop automation, allowing organizations to optimize workflows across various platforms.

Is Power Automate still a thing?

Power Automate is a Microsoft cloud-based service that enables users to create automated workflows between apps and services. It remains actively supported and widely used in roles involving process automation, integration, and workflow management, often requiring knowledge of connectors, data flows, and low-code development. The platform continues to evolve with new features and updates, making it relevant for automation professionals today.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Power Automate position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Power Automate professional, you need strong analytical skills, business process understanding, and proficiency in workflow automation, typically supported by experience with Microsoft Power Platform and a relevant IT or business degree. Familiarity with tools such as Power Automate, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Office 365, and certifications like Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Fundamentals are highly beneficial. These abilities are crucial for designing efficient automated solutions that drive productivity and meet organizational goals.

Is Power Automate hard to learn?

Power Automate is designed to be accessible for users with basic technical skills, and many find it straightforward to learn due to its visual interface and pre-built templates. Overall, beginners can start creating simple automations quickly, while more complex tasks may take additional time to learn.

What are typical responsibilities for someone working in a Power Automate role?

Professionals in a Power Automate role are typically responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automated workflows to optimize business processes. Daily tasks often include gathering requirements from stakeholders, developing automation solutions using Microsoft Power Automate, troubleshooting issues, and training end users. Job description

Introduction

Headquartered in Reno, NV, Ormat designs, develops, builds, owns and operates geothermal and recovered energy-based power plants in the US and worldwide. With a spotless international reputation, we’re on track to become a leading global provider of renewable energy.

We take pride in our family-oriented business building practical green energy solutions from the ground up.

Join a team that’s giving new life to the future of our planet.

OverviewThe AI Builder is a hands-on delivery role responsible for designing, building, and deploying practical AI agents, copilots, and automated workflows that help Ormat move AI solutions from experimentation to execution. This position partners directly with business users to translate scoped business problems into working solutions that connect to company data, systems, and processes. Success in this role is measured by solutions that are shipped, adopted, reused, and reliably used by employees across Ormat’s global operations.
This position is part of the AI Center of Excellence team based out of Reno, Nevada. Typical work involves platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, Copilot Studio, n8n, Make, LangChain, and OpenAI AgentKit.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and deploy multi-step AI agents, copilots, and automated workflows that solve defined business problems and improve operational efficiency.
  • Work directly with business users to understand workflow needs, prototype solutions quickly, gather feedback, and iterate until solutions are practical and usable.
  • Connect AI solutions to internal data, documents, and platforms, including Microsoft 365, SharePoint, databases, APIs, and other approved business systems.
  • Apply prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation concepts, and agent orchestration techniques to create reliable and well-structured AI-enabled workflows.
  • Document solution design, build standards, reusable patterns, handoff notes, and support requirements to enable repeatable delivery and long-term maintainability.
  • Partner with IT, Data, security, and business stakeholders to transition production-ready solutions into appropriate infrastructure, monitoring, governance, and support models.

Perform other duties as assigned. Support internal AI enablement efforts, contribute to reusable solution libraries and standards, participate in AI Leads or cross-functional working groups as needed, and remain current on emerging AI, automation, and productivity tools relevant to Ormat’s business environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience building AI agents, automations, GenAI applications, or workflow-based technical solutions; A portfolio of shipped and adopted solutions matters more than years of experience or job titles.
  • Hands-on fluency with at least one modern agent, automation, or low-code/no-code platform such as Microsoft Power Automate, Copilot Studio, LangChain, OpenAI AgentKit, n8n, Make, or similar tools.
  • Working understanding of prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, agent orchestration, workflow design, and responsible AI practices.
  • Ability to connect technology solutions to business needs, break complex processes into clear steps, and design reliable user-centered workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with business users, technical partners, and cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business analytics, engineering, operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent practical experience may be considered.

Physical Requirements:
  • Primarily office-based role requiring the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, use a computer and standard office equipment, communicate verbally and in writing, and attend meetings in person or virtually. Occasional travel between company locations may be required.
