Job description

Job Title: Farm Compliance Specialist
Department: Compliance
Location: La Rue, Ohio
Reports To: Compliance Manager
Job Type: Full-Time
Travel: 10-20%
Compensation: 67,000-70,000/ Yearly
Job Summary
The Farm Compliance Specialist supports biosecurity, animal health and welfare, environmental compliance, pest control, and/or recycled nutrient management programs for all layer and pullet flocks. This role helps ensure compliance with state regulations, environmental permits, and customer standards. The position assists with implementing and maintaining compliance programs that protect animal health, environmental stewardship, and operational integrity while supporting regulatory, industry, and customer requirements.
Essential Job Functions
  • Assist in the development and implementation of farm compliance programs aligned with applicable regulations and standards
  • Support compliance personnel with daily compliance activities, documentation, and regulatory reporting
  • Promote Versova's core values across all compliance programs
  • Track and document bird movements, flock testing, environmental sampling, nutrient management, and other compliance activities
  • Coordinate bird, environmental, and regulatory sampling to ensure compliance with required timelines
  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of pest control, biosecurity, environmental management, stormwater, and recycled nutrient management programs
  • Monitor compliance with environmental permits, land application requirements, waste management, and related regulatory programs
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities, storage areas, ponds, equipment, and surrounding property to support environmental compliance
  • Assist with internal audits and prepare for external inspections related to animal health, welfare, biosecurity, environmental compliance, and customer standards
  • Support corrective action activities resulting from internal audits, regulatory inspections, and third-party assessments
  • Assist with employee training programs related to biosecurity, animal welfare, environmental compliance, pest control, and best management practices
  • Maintain accurate records in accordance with document control and regulatory requirements
  • Respond to and support resolution of compliance-related concerns, including regulatory inquiries and community complaints as needed
  • Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes and program effectiveness
  • Provide cross-site support and backup assistance for other compliance personnel as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in compliance, animal care, or related farm/industry work
  • Working knowledge of animal welfare, biosecurity, environmental regulations, and industry compliance standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain accurate documentation

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience assisting with internal compliance inspections
  • Ability to promote and encourage employee buy-in for compliance programs
