Position Summary:

The Heavy Equipment Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty machinery used in agriculture, and industrial operations. This role ensures equipment is safe, reliable, and operating at optimal performance to minimize downtime and support efficient operations.


Required Skills / Competencies:

Knowledge Areas:

Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· 3+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician, Diesel Mechanic, or related role.

· Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.

· Ability to operate diagnostic software and tools.

· Valid driver’s license

· Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying weather conditions


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

· Perform routine maintenance and inspections on heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, dozers, haul trucks, graders, backhoes, and auxiliary machinery.

· Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals.

· Report major issues or potential safety concerns to supervisors promptly.

· Accurately document work performed, parts used, labor hours, and diagnostic results in maintenance systems.

· Conduct engine repairs, component rebuilds, transmission service, brake system repairs, and hydraulic troubleshooting.

· Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying weather conditions

· Complete welding, fabrication, and basic machining when needed.


Expected Hours of Work:

· This position requires approximately 40 plus hours a week. May require overtime or weekend work during Harvest.


Work Environment:

· Most duties and responsibilities are performed in a shop setting with occasional field services.

· Some duties and responsibilities are performed outdoors

· Loud noises

· Wet flooring

· Stairs

Physical Demands:

· Prolonged periods of standing or walking

· Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas

· Must be able to climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing 50 pounds

· Exposure to temperatures of approximately 42° in the warehouse

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds
