Description
This position manages the daily functions, develops plans, prepares budgets and directs the daily activities of support personnel for the Postal and Central Receiving/Shipping Operation for the College . The successful receipt and delivery of postal services in a timely and professional manner are essential.
Examples of Duties
  • Supervises and assists the shipping/receiving, sorting and processing of all inter-campus mail, U.S. Mail and materials and supplies received via vendor special shipments. Verifies and interprets U.S. Postal regulations and rate schedules and serves as liaison between New College of Florida Postal Services, campus customers, and the U.S. Postal facility. Downloads updates and postage for postage machines. Does regular cleaning and maintenance on the machine.
  • Operates and maintains postage meters, scales, Quadient Locker systemand other postal equipment as necessary. Also, operates the College-owned motor vehicles (including van(s) and golf cart). Does regular maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Develops operating policies and procedures and annual operating budget. Requisitions to purchase any items, equipment, etc., needed for the operation.
  • Collects and maintains daily records to be charged monthly to campus departments for postal services. Serves as contact person for any changes to postal account allocator and gathers comments, suggestions, complaints, etc., from campus users.
  • Identifies and inspects daily deliveries and distributes them to proper campus department. Manages the central storage facility and schedules deliveries. Participates in campus mail deliveries that are done twice daily and delivery of other items as needed or requested.
  • Participates in daily delivery of mail for student boxes on a regular basis twice a day as necessary. Collects graduating students' forwarding addresses for one year forwarding process
  • Supervises the daily functions of support personnel in the proper performance of their duties and responsibilities. Fills in for support personnel and performs job functions in their absence.
  • Coordinates contracted express and maintains daily records to be charged to departments for shipping services on a monthly basis. Serves as contact person for all special events requiring mail/package delivery. Implements postage meter refills and semi-annual postal verification of the postage meter head readings.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma and six years of appropriate experience; must be able to comfortably lift at least 50 lbs.; and must have a valid driver's license needed to operate College-owned motor vehicles. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree or higher in a related discipline; a minimum of five years clerical experience; experience working with and/or general knowledge of managing postal and central receiving related activities; prior work experience in higher education; and have two years of supervisory experience.
