Job description

Assistant Professor

The Department of Molecular Pharmaceutics at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy seeks an excellent candidate for a tenure-track assistant professor faculty position. The role involves developing an independent and extramurally funded research program and teaching responsibilities in the professional PharmD program and the PhD graduate program of Molecular Pharmaceutics.


Research Interests

  • Gene and drug delivery, gene therapy & viral vector engineering, microbiome engineering, therapeutic protein engineering, tumor-based infection, immunotherapy & immunoengineering, neurotherapeutics, cell therapy, theranostics, pharmaceutical robotics & automation, pharmaceutical materials sciences, interfaces of modern molecular pharmaceutics, biomedical research, and data science.

  • Research vision aligning with the University of Utah pillars: neuroscience, cancer, diabetes and metabolism, immunology, inflammation, infectious diseases, innovative bioengineering and 3D printing technologies, and data science & artificial intelligence.

  • Translational alliances possible with CVRTI, the Huntsman Mental Health Institute, or the Health Sciences Bioinformatics cluster.


Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and postdoctoral experience.

  • Strong record of publications and ability to develop and sustain an independent, extramurally funded research program.

  • Extramural funding experience (K99/R00 or other competitive funding scores) is strongly encouraged.

  • Demonstrated capability to teach in the professional PharmD and PhD graduate programs.


Centers and Collaboration

The department hosts three internationally recognized centers: the Center for Controlled Chemical Delivery, the Center for Cell Sheet Tissue Engineering, and the Utah Center for Nanomedicine. There is a strong tie with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, with joint and adjunct faculty spanning both departments.
