Multiple postdoctoral positions (up to 5) in organic chemistry/biocatalysis are available in the laboratory of Rudi Fasan in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Dallas. The candidates are expected to conduct research focused on (a) development and investigation of novel biocatalytic methods for asymmetric synthesis and functionalization of complex molecules and (b) chemoenzymatic synthesis and investigation of natural product-like compound libraries, with a focus on anticancer drug discovery. Projects involve organic synthesis, method development, biocatalysis and protein engineering, investigation of catalytic mechanisms, and screening and evaluation of anticancer compounds.
Minimum Education and Experience

Ph.D in a related field.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • PhD degree in Chemistry or a related field
  • Experience in organic chemistry, catalysis, methodology development, and/or medicinal chemistry
  • Prior experience with protein chemistry and molecular biology techniques is desirable but not required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, conduct, and direct a wide variety of experiments. Responsible for the evaluation and interpretation of research data. Conduct experiments using advanced equipment and applying complex techniques, methods and procedures. Develop research protocols and supervise graduate or undergraduate researchers. Prepare written reports and contribute to the writing of research articles techniques, methods and procedures.
Physical Activities Working Conditions Additional Information
We are looking for enthusiastic and ambitious scientists with an established background in Organic, Bioorganic Chemistry and/or Medicinal Chemistry, who are interested in working at the interface of chemistry and biology within a highly interactive and motivated group of colleagues.
The ideal candidates should have a PhD degree in Chemistry or related field, strong synthetic organic chemistry skills, excellent communication skills, and a proven record of scientific accomplishments. Prior experience with protein chemistry and molecular biology techniques is a plus but not required.
A remote work schedule is not available for this position.
