Job description

ABA Therapist Or RBT Volunteer

An ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) Therapist or RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) volunteer helps implement behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). The role focuses on working with individuals, often children, with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other developmental conditions. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Behavior Intervention: Implementing individualized treatment plans designed by the BCBA, which aim to improve communication, social, and behavioral skills.
  2. Data Collection: Recording and monitoring the client's progress by collecting data on their behaviors and responses to the interventions.
  3. Skill Development: Assisting clients in learning new skills, such as communication, social interaction, and daily living tasks.
  4. Reinforcement: Using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors and reduce problematic ones.
  5. Collaboration: Working closely with parents, teachers, and other caregivers to ensure consistency in treatment across different environments.

As an External Therapist you do not work for APEC primarily but will be required to complete an application/background check for screening purposes.

Program Information

  • APEC Afterschool locations are primarily based in the South Fulton GA area.
  • Children report to us Monday โ€“ Friday from 2:20pm โ€“ 6:30pm (excluding school breaks).
  • Each location supports 30 โ€“ 130 kids daily, ranging from ages 4-11.
  • Our locations have several transitions/activities that will be implemented throughout the day (keep this in mind for clients who may have difficulty with transitions).
