JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
A postdoctoral position is available in Dr. Paul Babitzke's research lab within the Center for RNA Molecular Biology and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Penn State. The candidate in this position will study transcription and/or post-transcriptional regulatory mechanisms in B. subtilis and E. coli. Experience in gene regulation, in vitro transcription, RNA biochemistry, protein-RNA interaction, protein-protein interaction, and/or bioinformatics analysis of transcriptomics data is required. The successful candidate will explore fundamental mechanisms that control RNA polymerase pausing and termination, regulation of gene expression by transcription attenuation and translational control mechanisms, structural studies of RNA polymerase using cryo-EM, and/or genome-wide approaches to identify novel RNA-based regulatory mechanisms using RNET-seq, Term-seq, and Structure-seq.
Applicants must have recently received their Ph.D. in the Life Sciences. Applications must be submitted electronically at https://psu.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/PSU_Academic Search:0000058449 and include a cover letter containing a description of past accomplishments, research interests and goals, as well as a curriculum vita (CV) that includes a list of publications, conference presentations, and contact information for three referees.
