ECHO adding to the IT staff! We are looking for a Security Network Administrator to manage, secure, and optimize our network environment while proactively identifying and mitigating cybersecurity threats. The salary range for this position is $105,000-$120,000 based on experience and qualifications.
This is a hybrid role with one remote workday each week and four days on-site at our Lake Zurich location.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Network Administration (60%)
  • Deploy, configure, manage, and monitor LAN/WAN, firewall, switches, routers, wireless access points, VPNs, and related network infrastructure.
  • Ensure network availability and performance across all ECHO offices and remote/branch sites.
  • Troubleshoot network issues (connectivity, performance, latency) and implement improvements.
  • Maintain network documentation, topology diagrams, IP address schema, VLANs, etc.
  • Work with vendors and internal teams to execute network upgrades, migrations, and expansions.
  • Manage backups of network configurations, software updates, patching, and firmware upgrades for network gear.
  • Monitor network for capacity planning, growth, and infrastructure lifecycle.

Security Administration (40%)
  • Assist with the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, VPNs, SIEM, logging) and policies.
  • Support identity and access management (IAM) including network access controls, segmentation, and zero-trust considerations.
  • Perform vulnerability scans, follow up on remediations, assist in patching and configuration hardening of network, end points, and security systems.
  • Monitor and respond to security events/alerts, escalate incidents, and coordinate with the SOC/team as required.
  • Ensure network and system compliance with relevant standards and regulations (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CIS, or others relevant to ECHO).
  • Provide input for security architecture changes, support risk assessments, participate in audits, reviews, and presentations.
  • Maintain documentation of security controls, procedures, incident response plans, network security configurations, and change logs.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • 3+ years of experience in network administration and/or security administration roles.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, wireless technologies, firewall technologies, network monitoring tools.
  • Working knowledge of security technologies and frameworks (firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, endpoint protection, SIEM, vulnerability scanning).
  • Experience with network documentation, performance monitoring, and capacity planning.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues under pressure and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong commitment to following security policies, standards, and best practices.

Preferred:
  • Certification(s) such as: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (or working toward).
  • Experience with cloud networking (Azure, hybrid), SASE, SD-WAN technologies.
  • Prior experience in audit or compliance environments (ISO, NIST, etc.).
