What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for a Staff Scientist to provide laboratory leadership and support services to perform interdisciplinary and collaborative research from bench to beside with the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD.
  • Combine biochemical, molecular, cellular, genetic, and quantitative approaches to investigate fundamental biological processes across a range of organisms, including fish, flies, mice, mammals, microbes, and viruses.
  • Research how cells sense, respond, and adapt to a variety of stress conditions, including nutrient deprivation, organelle damage, and pathogen infection.
  • Address how alterations in mTOR, TFEB, TFE3, and lysosomal function lead to human disease.
  • Seek to identify potential sites for therapeutic intervention suitable for further evaluation in translational and clinical research efforts.
  • Serve as laboratory lead contributing to training and mentoring of all laboratory members.
  • Present research at meetings and conferences.
  • Work in an interdisciplinary lab collaborating with others to advance research initiatives.
  • Characterize the contribution of lysosomes to a variety of physiological processes, both in normal and pathological conditions.

What You Will Need:
  • PhD with MINIMUM TWO (2) years of postdoctoral research experience in molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, or related field.
  • Must have a mastery of Zebrafish models with skills such as husbandry, genetic crossing, and genotyping protocols.
  • Must have a have a strong publication record.
  • Experience working with animal models.
  • Expertise in cellular biology and advanced microscopy imaging.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust. Candidates must receive approved adjudication of their Public Trust prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an active Public Trust or existing suitability are preferred.
