Job Information
We are looking for an experienced Microgrid Integration Engineer with a specialized focus on integrating fuel cells into microgrid solutions for data centers. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and deploying microgrid systems that incorporate fuel cell technology as a primary power source for data centers. You will work to create reliable, scalable, and sustainable power solutions that support the critical needs of data center operations.
Role & Responsibility
  • Fuel Cell Integration into Microgrids:Design and integrate fuel cell systems into microgrid architectures, ensuring seamless operation as a primary or backup power source within data center environments. Optimize fuel cell performance, efficiency, and scalability for high-demand applications.
  • Microgrid System Design & Optimization:Develop and implement microgrid systems that combine fuel cells, energy storage (e.g., batteries), renewable energy sources (e.g., solar), and conventional generators for data centers. Focus on reliability, redundancy, and optimal energy management.
  • Power Electronics & Control Systems:Work with power electronics, inverters, and controllers to convert, condition, and distribute power generated by fuel cells. Develop control strategies to ensure the efficient and coordinated operation of fuel cells with other energy sources in grid-connected or islanded modes.
  • Energy Management & Optimization:Develop and configure energy management systems (EMS) to optimize the operation of fuel cells, energy storage, and other generation sources. Ensure efficient energy flow, load balancing, and peak shaving to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
  • System Modeling & Simulation:Oversee modeling of tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or PSCAD to model and simulate microgrid systems that integrate fuel cell technologies. Analyze performance and optimize system configurations for load demand, reliability, and efficiency under various operational scenarios.
  • Grid Synchronization & Integration:Oversee the integration of fuel cell-based microgrids with the existing electrical grid. Ensure proper synchronization, seamless transfer between grid-connected and islanded modes, and effective load management for data center operations.
  • Reliability & Redundancy Design:Ensure microgrid systems are fault-tolerant, resilient, and meet the high-availability needs of data centers. Implement redundancy strategies (e.g., N+1 configurations) for critical components such as fuel cells, energy storage, and inverters.

Role & Responsibility - Continued
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams:Work closely with mechanical engineers, software engineers, and data center operations teams to ensure that the microgrid system is fully aligned with facility power requirements. Communicate effectively to ensure timely integration and deployment.
  • Compliance & Safety Standards:Ensure that all fuel cell microgrid systems meet regulatory requirements, industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC), and safety protocols for energy systems and data centers. Keep updated on environmental regulations and sustainability goals for energy systems.
