Job description
Post Doc Research Fellow-Lipid Metabolism and Metabolic disease, Dr. Yu Laboratory
A position of postdoctoral research fellow is immediately available at the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Nutrition, University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Our research projects aim to study the role of lipid metabolism in the pathogenesis of common metabolic diseases associated with obesity, such as insulin resistance, fatty liver, and cardiovascular abnormalities. The major goal of the study is to molecularly define how lipid droplet lipolysis regulates metabolic/bioenergetic fuel selection and signaling pathways in adipocytes and how adipose lipolysis communicates with other organs, including the central nervous system to maintain whole-body thermogenesis, energy balance, and metabolic health.
Additional information on our research projects can be found in our publications, including Cell Metabolism (2017) 26(5):764-777, DOI: 10.1016/j.cmet.2017.09.002 and Hepatology (2022), DOI: 10.1002/hep.32675.
Qualifications
The candidate for this position is expected to be a highly self-motivated, recent Ph.D. graduate with a strong background in molecular and cell biology, genetically altered mouse models, animal physiology, and metabolic phenotyping of mice.
Candidates with additional experience in the following skills and research areas will be favorably considered: isolation and culture of adipose and primary liver cells, flow cytometry analysis of immune cells, atherosclerotic plaque analysis in mice, lipid extraction and TLC analysis, immunoprecipitation and protein purification, ChIP assays, and/or sample preparations for single cell or nucleus RNA sequencing.
To apply for this position, please send your CV, contact information of three referees, and a statement of research interest to Dr. Liqing Yu at
