Description
This position is responsible for the daily pickup of mail from the US Post Office and the delivery of the mail to the Postal and Central Shipping/Receiving Operation for the College. The individual will sort mail and then deliver it to approximately 35 campus locations. The successful receipt and delivery of postal services in a timely and professional manner are essential.
Examples of Duties
Picks up mail from the US Post Office and delivers mail to the USF's Postal Operations and NCF's Postal Operations on a daily basis
Conducts the sorting of incoming mail and parcels in preparation for delivery to appropriate campus Departments
Delivers mail and parcels on a daily basis to appropriate departments and disciplines (approx. 35 campus stops) in accordance with established campus mail route and procedure, picks up outgoing mail at all stops for sorting and delivery.
Operates electronic scales, electronic postage meter and postage allocator, properly recording the amount of Postage used by each department to assist the Postal Manager in maintaining a daily record or postage usage
Operates, when required, the Shipping/Receiving Management System, which consists of a PC, printer, scales and specialized software for parcel tracking purposes. When required, operates a heavy-duty hydraulic lift platform
Collaborates with Coordinator in maintaining the operation of Central Shipping and Receiving according to procedures established by the Coordinator, including the inspection of packages/parcels, checking records to determine the initiating department for appropriate delivery and distribution and to refuse delivery of any damaged and/or duplicated shipments of merchandise
Answers the telephone and works at the service counter as necessary. Sorts, processes, and distributes parcels and mail from vendors as needed. Files daily log sheets and performs other duties as assigned or that are necessary to ensure smooth operation

Minimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma and three years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Ability to safely lift at least 50 lbs.
  • A valid state of Florida's driver's license

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with and/or general knowledge of managing postal and central receiving related activities and prior work experience in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated experience indicative of the ability to work effectively with others to ensure compliance with policies and programs, and a willingness to project a positive and professional attitude.
