SUMMARY OVERVIEW

The Baggage Handling Agent is responsible for ensuring passenger luggage and cargo are handled safely, efficiently, and in a timely manner. This role includes loading and unloading baggage from aircraft and conveyor systems, sorting luggage by destination, and adhering strictly to safety and security standards. The position requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced airport environment under various weather conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Load and unload passenger luggage and cargo on and off aircraft
  • Operate baggage handling equipment such as conveyor belts, carts, and trolleys
  • Sort and route baggage to the correct flight and baggage claim carousel
  • Ensure timely delivery of baggage to and from aircraft
  • Inspect baggage for damage or potential security risks and report discrepancies immediately
  • Follow all safety procedures and airport security protocols while handling baggage
  • Work closely with ground crew and airline personnel to ensure efficient baggage processing
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in baggage handling areas
  • Coordinate with security personnel to ensure adherence to airport security measures
  • Participate in training sessions on baggage handling procedures, safety standards, and equipment operation
  • Coordinate with airline staff for special handling of oversized, fragile, or priority items
  • Record and report baggage handling activities in accordance with company and airport regulations
  • Support and promote the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives
  • Report safety hazards, incidents, and near misses in accordance with SMS reporting procedures
  • Exceed PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience preferred
  • Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically, including use of tablets, computers, and mobile devices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers in person and electronically
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, RAIC, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable).
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 operational environment

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY / WORKING CONDITIONS MAY INCLUDE

  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds repeatedly
  • Prolonged standing and walking in indoor and outdoor environments
  • Ability to reach with arms and grasp with hands
