Job description

Job Duties

Drive standard route of up to 250 miles/day and deliver merchandise to customers in a timely manner

Load and unload truck with materials for daily delivery route

Scan all products on and off truck during daily loading, unloading and at all customer drop off/pick up sites

Sell welding equipment, materials and supplies to customers using technical knowledge, advising and trouble-shooting problems

Make/take telephone calls and create future orders for customer requests and coordinate delivery schedules

May confer with customers to expedite or locate missing, misrouted, delayed or damaged merchandise

Serve as a liaison to sales and other managers, reports on progress, communicates to appropriate personnel to enhance customer service/support

Operate company vehicle in a professional, safe and courteous manner following all traffic rules

Perform daily safety inspection on truck; check turn signals, tires, prepare and complete all DOT compliance paperwork

Complete dock backings and tailgate backings for regular stops on route

Unload items and process paper work at customer locations by having tickets signed and receiving of payment from time to time

Ensure delivery of appropriate merchandise in accordance with customer invoices

Checks empty cylinders and replace when needed at customer site

Provide customer with receipt and/or credit form for merchandise to be delivered/returned

Return credit merchandise with appropriate paperwork and inform appropriate personnel

Sort through delivery tickets in preparation of next day’s route

Double check barcodes, delivery tickets and payments received and forward to billing clerk

Attend sales training and/or conferences as necessary

Minimum Education Required

High School diploma or equivalency

2+ years of previous customer service experience required
