Job description

Freenet Health is hiring a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to own and scale our cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and environment architecture.

This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a secure, scalable Azure environment that supports backend services, data systems, and internal applications used across the organization.

This role operates in a HIPAA-regulated environment and requires building and maintaining infrastructure that meets strict security and data protection standards.

You will work closely with the Engineering Manager and backend engineering team to ensure infrastructure is reliable, secure, and aligned with application needs.

This is a hands-on role focused on execution. You will be expected to build, troubleshoot, and operate production systems.

What You Will Own

  • The reliability, security, and scalability of our Azure environment across all stages
  • End-to-end deployment systems, from CI/CD pipelines to production releases
  • Identity, access, and secrets management across services and environments
  • Infrastructure as Code and the standards for provisioning and operating environments

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage Azure resources (App Services, Functions, VMs, SQL, Storage)
  • Configure networking, DNS, and secure service-to-service connectivity
  • Maintain environment isolation (dev, staging, regression, production)
  • Implement secure identity and access (Entra ID, managed identities, app registrations)
  • Manage secrets and enforce security best practices (encryption, access control, audit logging, HIPAA)
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps) with safe, repeatable releases
  • Implement and manage infrastructure using Terraform or Bicep
  • Set up monitoring, alerting, and observability (Azure Monitor, Application Insights)
  • Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability
  • Collaborate with engineers and leadership on deployments and architecture

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or DevOps
  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in production environments
  • Deep understanding of Azure networking, resource architecture, and IAM (Entra ID, managed identities, app registrations)
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automating deployments across multiple environments
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep)
  • Experience configuring secure service-to-service communication
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident response
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in distributed systems
  • Experience implementing secure cloud architectures, including encryption and access control
  • Experience in HIPAA-compliant or regulated environments (preferred)
