The Risk Manager will work closely with and support the Director-Insurance and Risk Management with the management of diverse Private Client Personal Lines and Commercial Lines insurance programs, with various levels of complexities for both Property and Casualty lines of business, including Valuable Articles, Yacht, Aviation, Construction, Farm and Ranch, Management Liability products, and perform due diligence with all new business opportunities.

 

What you will do

You will be responsible for the management and day-to-day service of complex personal lines, commercial, and personal/commercial hybrid accounts, reporting directly to the Director of Insurance and Risk Management. You will develop and retain consultative relationships with clients and internal business partners, Broker and Carrier business partners. You must also be able to evaluate and educate clients on coverage gaps and newly available coverage options, industry state of the market, as well as emerging trends.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and management of comprehensive and competitive insurance programs for the firmโ€™s geographically diverse real estate and asset portfolios and corporate operations, including the negotiation of policy terms and conditions
  • Assist with the research, evaluation and make recommendations regarding current and state-of-the-art trends in risk management, safety and loss control strategies.
  • Assist with budgets, forecasts, financial reports, premium allocations, premium audits and retro calculations.
  • Coordinate claim coverage issues; participate in claim review meetings and analysis of claim reserves
  •  Provide consultation and technical advice on insurance and risk management issues to business units; laisse with internal and external stakeholders, including partners, lenders, asset and property managers
  • Assist with performing asset acquisition due diligence, identifying and analyzing significant risk management and insurance issues, compiling required underwriting data and assisting with making appropriate recommendations
  • Assist with establishing contract standards for insurance and indemnification wording; review contracts and other legal documents to evaluate risk related provisions, assuring competitiveness and compliance with insurance and risk management policies
  • Assist with internal communication and strategies related to program recommendations and risk management initiatives
  • Develop detailed policy summaries for dissemination to lenders, tenants, and other third parties
  • Assist with the maintenance of annual records and implementation of our Agency Management System
  • Analyze the insurance provided by joint venture partners for compliance with applicable agreements
  • Assist with the development of standard processes and procedures for risk management functions
  • Assist with the development and implementation of relevant risk management policies, training and communication to ensure the efficient operation of individual operating units
  • Other risk management duties as assigned

Experience and Educational Qualifications

    • 10-15+ years of experience in the insurance industry, Risk Management Department or Brokerage a plus
    • Advanced degree or insurance industry certifications (CPCU, ARM) a plus
