This senior role is responsible for managing the institutionโ€™s commercial real estate lending staff, monitoring business development and overall portfolio management. This role includes assisting the lending staff with credit structure and financial analysis, prescreening loan requests and working with the staff on prospecting and customer calls. This position plays a key leadership role within the lending team, helping elevate credit quality, process efficiency, and overall team capability.
What you can expect to work on
Management amp; Team Development
  • Provide leadership and guidance to lending team in structuring and evaluating credits for risk management and adherence to policy requirements.
  • Provide training or guidance on underwriting fundamentals, loan policy, process navigation, and market analysis.
  • Create and implement procedures, prepare and review monthly reports, interview new personnel, and complete performance evaluations.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and strong credit discipline.
Relationship amp; Client Leadership
  • Serve as the primary contact for key and highโ€‘value borrower relationships, ensuring exceptional service and proactive issue resolution.
  • Develop, strengthen, and retain longโ€‘term client and referralโ€‘source partnerships.
Loan Origination, Structuring amp; Complex Deal Support
  • Originate and structure new CRE lending opportunities, identifying solutions that meet borrower objectives while mitigating credit risk.
  • Negotiate loan terms, pricing and structure to maximize profitability.
Portfolio amp; Risk Management
  • Oversee the management of a complex CRE loan portfolio, ensuring ongoing performance, compliance, and adherence to internal and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct periodic portfolio reviews including financial analysis, covenant monitoring, and property performance evaluation.
  • Proactively identify emerging risks and implement strategies to protect the bankโ€™s interests.
Loan Servicing amp; Administration
  • Oversee documentation, closing, modifications, and renewals for assigned transactions.
  • Review and approve construction draws and disbursements when applicable.
  • Resolve servicing issues, documentation exceptions, and compliance discrepancies.
  • Alert senior management of imminent and significant loan defaults, or other issues that have a likelihood of causing a loss to the Bank.
Crossโ€‘Functional amp; External Collaboration
  • Coordinate with underwriting, credit, loan operations, legal counsel, and senior leadership.
  • Provide timely updates on pipeline activity, client developments, and credit matters.
  • Maintain strong relationships with brokers, developers, attorneys, and industry stakeholders.
  • Provide input with strategic planning projects including budgeting, process improvement, growth and quality initiatives.
Market Knowledge
  • Stay current on CRE trends, competitive dynamics, interest rate movements, and real estate fundamentals.
  • Leverage market insight to advise clients and identify opportunities.

  • Advanced degree or relevant professional certification (MBA, CFA, CCIM) is preferred.
