Job Description:
Job Profile: Graphic Design Intern
FLSA: Non-Exempt
We have an opening for a graphic design intern at the Hy-Vee, Inc. corporate office, located in Grimes, Iowa. This is an excellent opportunity for a person majoring in graphic design to obtain creative experience in a fast-paced marketing department. The summer internship program at Hy-Vee, Inc. provides qualified candidates the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally at one of the Midwest's top grocery retailers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create custom print marketing materials (posters, print ads and flyers for Hy-Vee stores, corporate office and subsidiaries).
  • Create custom digital content to convey Hy-Vee's brand messaging across all digital platforms (digital ads, emails, web banners, social posts).
  • Assist marketing staff with special projects.
  • Assist in day-to-day activities of a busy marketing department.
  • Assist in data/asset management.
  • Communication with managers and leads on status of projects.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office products.
  • Knowledge of After Effects and/or Figma a plus.
  • Photography, illustration, and/or video shooting or editing skills a plus.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB:
College student majoring in Graphic Design who is of a junior or senior status.
Must submit a digital portfolio for consideration.
Physical Requirements:
  • Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.
  • Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.
  • Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
