Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA and Miami, FL

Direct Counsel is seeking a Real Estate Capital Markets Finance Associate to join a leading Am Law 100 law firmwith a nationally recognized real estate practice.

This opportunity is ideal for a mid-to-senior-level real estate attorney seeking sophisticated financing and investment work within a collaborative platform that offers substantial client exposure, professional development, and long-term advancement opportunities.

About the Role

The firm's Real Estate Capital Markets team advises lenders, investors, developers, and other market participants on a broad range of commercial real estate financing and investment transactions.

Associates in this practice work on complex matters involving:

  • Commercial real estate financing transactions

  • Origination of mortgage loans and structured debt facilities

  • Real estate investment and capital markets transactions

  • Workouts and restructurings of distressed commercial real estate loans

  • Acquisitions and dispositions of commercial real estate assets

  • Loan documentation, due diligence, and transaction management

  • Negotiation of financing and investment agreements

  • Ongoing portfolio and asset management matters

Attorneys in this group work closely with clients on high-value transactions across a variety of commercial real estate asset classes, gaining meaningful responsibility and direct client interaction.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

  • 4–8 years of commercial real estate finance experience.

  • Experience representing lenders and other financial institutions in commercial real estate financing transactions.

  • Background handling mortgage loans, structured debt transactions, and commercial real estate workouts preferred.

  • Experience with commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions is a plus.

  • Strong drafting, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Admission to the North Carolina Bar, Georgia or Florida, or ability to obtain admission promptly.

  • Must reside in, or be willing to relocate to, the Charlotte, Atlanta or Miami area prior to employment.
