Summary

Starting at $30/hr + $10,000 Sign-On Bonus | Full-time Part-time Options

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Operates radiological equipment to produce quality radiographs (x-rays) of the body for diagnostic purposes under the direction of a physician.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
  • Position patients and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of a specified area and/or body part by using ionizing radiation. Also assists physician during fluoroscopy exams.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the operation of all Radiology machinery, not limited to C-arms, portable and stationary x-ray machines, and panorex machine to produce radiographic images in DR,CR and fluoroscopic modes
  • Consistently and correctly place patients identification on images using at least two patient identifiers in accordance with the National Patient Safety Standards; properly processing imaging and labeling them with the correct study descriptions. Also labeling the images with the correct lead makers on a consistent basis.
  • Prepares and maintains appropriate records as required. Verify cases in PACS (Picture Archiving Communication System) and complete cases in the RIS (Radiology information system) on a timely basis. Participate in any and all projects pertaining to the maintenance and/or correction of the radiology data bases.
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation. Display the ability to recognize patients pain and provide comfort when possible. Display superior customer service skills and participate in the distribution and collection of customer service surveys.
  • Able to moves x-ray equipment into specified positions and locations. Knowledgeable in the adjustment of equipment settings in relations to KVP, MA, time and distance.
  • Practices radiation safety and protection by utilizing the proper techniques in collimation, shielding and ensuring patients, co-workers and family are at the desired distance prior to emitting ionizing radiation.
  • Competently operates fixed and mobile x-ray equipment across many settings- operating room, emergency room, or at patients bedside. Participate in all areas of General Imaging not limited to Surgery, Out Patient Clinic, Emergency Room, Inpatient area, Portables, Schwab and Urodynamics.
  • Demonstrates radiologic techniques for age-specific patients needs including procedures for port chest, skull, spine, abdomen, extremity, pelvis, and O.R. procedures with C-arm.
  • Consistently and competently demonstrates knowledge and ability in use of departmental equipment not limited to the CR/DR general diagnostic rooms, digital/analog portable x-ray machines, C-Arms, fluoroscopy, patient moving equipment, CR Readers and, Disc Makers.
  • Demonstrates ability to address proper safety procedures including shielding from radiation, equipment safety, and patient safety. Knowledgeable of all Emergency Code and perform well in all Mock Training scenarios. Certified in CPR and obtained certification in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of criteria to identify victims of abuse and neglect.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Work overtime when needed. Display leadership and teamwork throughout the department and hospital. Provide support in all quality improvement initiatives by submitting ideas and suggestions. Actively participate in the submission of service request to proper vendors and communicating all equipment failures. Perform properly in the completion of shift change reports and also in the area of supply ordering and the restocking.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
An Associates degree from a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technologist (JRCERT) approved two-year course in radiologic technology.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
  • Must be eligible for certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology
  • IDNS/IEMA, ARRT, CPR required.
