Job description

We are seeking a Local Class A CDL Port Driver to travel between the port and warehouses in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will be comfortable driving a manual semi-truck 10 speed/automatic and have no trouble making daily local drop and hook or live unload deliveries. A successful candidate will have a clean driving record, a minimum of three years of experience, and a commitment to getting loads delivered in a safe and timely manner.

We have a project moving containers from the warehouses in Houston, TX, to the Houston port and we are looking for a driver with port experience who can deliver 2-3 containers a day.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver containers locally.
  • Drive a 10 speed/automatic semi-truck to Port of Houston
  • Plan and adhere to a logbook schedule.
  • Follow the driver handbook.
  • Make sure the truck is clean and organized.
  • Do Pre-trip and Post Trip inspections every day.
  • Ability to think outside the box to solve problems.
  • Effectively communicate with dispatch and fleet managers.
  • Complete basic maintenance on the truck.
  • Drive safely.
  • Backing into warehouse docks safely.
  • Deal with difficult customers.
  • Get PODS and port tickets and submit in a timely manner.
  • Hook amp; Unhook hoses to chassis.
  • Know how to navigate the port quickly and safely.
