OTR / Port Driver

Tadarron Walker Transportation LLC – Savannah, GA

Position Summary

Tadarron Walker Transportation LLC is seeking dependable, safety-focused OTR/Port Truck Drivers to transport containerized freight originating from the Port of Savannah to customers throughout Georgia and surrounding states.

The driver will be responsible for safely operating company equipment, picking up and delivering containers, completing required documentation, and maintaining compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, port, and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pick up loaded and empty containers from the Port of Savannah and designated terminals.
  • Transport containerized freight to customer locations throughout Georgia and regional OTR lanes.
  • Safely secure and transport freight in accordance with DOT and company requirements.
  • Inspect tractor, chassis, and equipment before and after each trip.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatchers, customers, brokers, and port personnel.
  • Maintain accurate bills of lading, delivery receipts, interchange documents, and other required paperwork.
  • Monitor appointment times and communicate delays or issues immediately.
  • Follow all port, terminal, customer, and facility procedures.
  • Maintain accurate electronic/logbook records and hours-of-service compliance.
  • Report equipment problems, accidents, cargo issues, or roadside inspections promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance and provide excellent customer service.
  • Operate safely in local, regional, and OTR conditions.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL.
  • Safe driving record.
  • Ability to pass required DOT drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to meet DOT medical certification requirements.
  • Previous port, intermodal, container, or OTR experience preferred.
  • TWIC card preferred/required for applicable port access.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with dispatch.

Work Environment

  • Home Base: Savannah, Georgia
  • Primary Freight: Port/containerized freight
  • Work: Local, regional, and OTR
  • Equipment: Tractor and container chassis
  • Schedule: Based on customer appointments and available freight
  • Travel: Regional and OTR travel may be required

Compensation

Competitive pay based on experience, miles, and/or agreed-upon percentage or load rate.

Additional compensation may be available for:

  • Detention
  • Layover
  • Extra stops
  • Overweight loads
  • Specialized loads
  • Other approved accessorial charges
