PeopleReady of Lake Park, FL is now hiring Port Checkers in Riviera Beach, FL! A port checker is responsible for verifying, documenting, and monitoring cargo, containers, and equipment moving through a port. The role blends inspection, data entry, safety oversight, and coordination with port operations teams. The core purpose is to ensure that all inbound and outbound cargo is accurately recorded, safely handled, and compliant with port and shipping requirements.

What you'll be doing as a Port Checker:

  • Inspect inbound and outbound cargo — Check container condition, cleanliness, structural integrity, seal numbers, and any visible damage
  • Verify shipment details — Confirm booking numbers, container or chassis IDs, reefer temperatures, weights, and other required data
  • Record and update system entries — Input gate transactions, discrepancies, and inspection results into port management systems (e.g., N-4 IN/OUT Gate screens)
  • Monitor loading and unloading operations — Oversee cargo movement before and after loading to ensure accuracy and safety
  • Issue operational documents — Prepare gate passes, container transfer slips, packing lists, and consolidation reports for LCL shipments
  • Identify and report discrepancies — Flag mismatches in cargo details, unsafe containers, or operational hazards
  • Support port operations teams — Serve as backup for yard operations, door checking, and other port functions as needed
  • Walking the yard to inspect containers and equipment
  • Interacting with truckers, crane operators, and port staff
  • Using handheld devices or office systems to log cargo data
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards and CSC/ACEP certifications
  • Monitoring for hazards or inconsistencies in cargo handling

Job requirements:
