What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a pool maintenance technician?

To thrive as a Pool Maintenance Technician, you need knowledge of water chemistry, pool equipment operation, and routine cleaning procedures, often supported by on-the-job training or a relevant certification. Familiarity with tools such as water testing kits, pumps, filters, and automated cleaning systems is essential. Strong attention to detail, time management, and clear communication with clients set top technicians apart. These skills ensure pools are safe, clean, and efficiently maintained, leading to customer satisfaction and long-lasting equipment.

How long does it take to become a pool maintenance technician?

Becoming a pool maintenance technician typically requires a few weeks to a few months of training, which includes learning about pool equipment, water chemistry, and safety procedures. Many technicians gain experience through on-the-job training or certification programs, with some states requiring licensing or certification that can take additional time to complete.

What is pool maintenance?

Pool maintenance refers to the regular tasks and procedures involved in keeping a swimming pool clean, safe, and properly functioning. This includes checking and balancing water chemistry, cleaning debris, brushing walls, vacuuming, maintaining the filtration system, and inspecting pool equipment. Regular maintenance prevents algae growth, extends the lifespan of pool components, and ensures a healthy swimming environment. Professional pool maintenance services can help homeowners manage these responsibilities efficiently.

One common challenge for pool maintenance technicians is managing water quality issues, such as maintaining proper chemical balance to prevent algae growth and equipment damage. Technicians also frequently work outdoors in varying weather conditions, which can impact the pace and safety of their work.  Pool Maintenance Technician
Service Area: Woodstock • Canton • Holly Springs • Kennesaw & surrounding communities
Enjoy local routes serving Cherokee and North Cobb County customers—without spending your day driving into Atlanta traffic.
We’re looking for a dependable Pool Maintenance Technician to manage an established weekly pool route. Pool maintenance experience is preferred, but we’re willing to train the right person with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
What We Offer:
●Starting pay from $18/hour, based on experience
●Take-home company truck
●Established weekly maintenance route
●Local service area with minimal long-distance driving
●Local supply pickup in Kennesaw
●Mostly independent work with very little office time
●Paid vacation after a 90-day introductory period
●Opportunities for raises and advancement
What You’ll Do:
●Clean and maintain residential swimming pools
●Test and balance pool water chemistry
●Keep your truck stocked, organized, and ready for each day
●Use our mobile app to document each visit
●Identify equipment issues and notify our service department when repairs are needed
●Provide friendly, dependable service to the same customers each week
This is a maintenance position—not a repair position. Your focus is keeping pools clean, balanced, and looking their best. Our service department handles major equipment repairs and diagnostics.
You’ll Be a Great Fit If You…
●Have pool maintenance experience, or are eager to learn and take pride in your work
●Have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
●Can lift up to 100 lbs.
●Show up on time and are dependable
●Enjoy working outdoors
●Can manage your own day without constant supervision
●Keep your truck clean, organized, and well stocked
●Treat customers with professionalism and respect
●Take pride in doing quality work every day
If you’re looking for a company that values dependable employees, trusts you to manage your own route, and keeps you working close to home instead of spending hours behind the wheel, we’d love to hear from you.
