Job description

Position Summary

The Pool Construction Crew Manager is responsible for the daily oversight of all field crews working on residential pool construction, from initial excavation through final startup. This role manages multiple crews, ensuring that work progresses safely, on schedule and to quality standards across every phase of the build. The Crew Manager serves as the primary link between the field and the construction office, translating project schedules and specifications into daily crew assignments while identifying and resolving issues that could delay a pool's completion.

Key Responsibilities

•    Oversee multiple construction crews, each composed of a Crew Leader and Crew Members, assigned across the phases of residential pool construction, including layout, excavation, steel and plumbing, shotcrete, tile and coping, decking, interior finish and equipment startup.

•    Sequence and dispatch crews across active job sites daily to keep each pool moving through its build phases on schedule.

•    Coordinate hand offs between phases (excavation to steel, steel to shotcrete) so incoming crews are not delayed by incomplete prior work.

•    Monitor daily and weekly production against the construction schedule and escalate at risk jobs to the Construction Manager.

•    Directly manage crew leaders, holding them accountable for their crews workmanship, productivity and adherence to safety protocols.

•    Support Crew Leaders in the training, coaching and performance management of crew members, and participate in hiring and disciplinary decisions as needed.

•    Conduct regular jobsite visits to inspect work in progress, address quality issues in real time and maintain visibility into crew performance.

•    Identify staffing needs by phase and partner with HR on recruiting, seasonal workforce planning and crew rebalancing.

•    Enforce construction standards and specifications at each phase, performing or delegating phase completion inspections before work proceeds to the next crew.

•    Own jobsite safety compliance, including OSHA requirements, proper use of equipment and correction of unsafe conditions or practices.

•    Document and address rework, callbacks, or quality issues, identifying root causes and adjusting crew practices to prevent recurrence.

•    Coordinate material, equipment, and subcontractor timing (shotcrete , tile, decking subs) with crew availability to avoid schedule gaps.

•    Communicate schedule changes, weather delays, and phase completions to the construction office, Sales, and PC teams.

•    Serve as a field point of contact on active projects, addressing concerns professionally and escalating as appropriate.

•    Maintain accurate daily job logs, crew timekeeping and phase completion records in the company's construction management system.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position directly supervises Crew Leaders and holds indirect oversight of Crew Members. Supervisory duties include workload assignment, performance feedback, training coordination and enforcement of safety and quality standards across all crews.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

•    High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field preferred.

•    10+ years of experience in residential pool construction or a closely related trade, including experience across multiple build phases.

•    7+ years in a supervisory or crew lead role, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple crews or job sites simultaneously.

Skills

•    Working knowledge of residential pool construction methods, sequencing, and quality standards across excavation, steel, shotcrete, tile/decking and plaster phases.

•    Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and jobsite safety management.

•    Strong organizational and scheduling skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across several active job sites.

•    Effective communicator, able to give clear direction to crews and represent the company professionally with homeowners.

•    Comfortable with construction management or scheduling software; valid driver's license required for travel between job sites.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

•    Regularly works outdoors at active construction sites in varying weather conditions, including Arizona summer heat.

•    Frequent walking on uneven terrain, bending and climbing in and around excavation and pool structures.

•    Travels daily between multiple job sites within the Phoenix metro area.
