About you
  • BTEC Mechanical Technician supporting Projects, Maintenance, and Site Infrastructure for pilot units, labs, and other site facilities.
  • Standard work schedules are 5x8 M-F or 4x10 M-T, day shift with call outs and overtime during off hours, weekends, and holidays. Specific schedules are based on service function and are not optional.
  • Primary job location will be at Baytown Technology & Engineering Complex.
What you will do

Base Job Roles & Responsibilities

  • Expected to perform work tasks, which are aligned with ExxonMobil core values and culture framework in accordance with company standards and best work practices.
  • Expected to understand, perform, and promote Life Saving Actions and all other safety requirements.
  • Maintain a strong focus on safety, reliability, and quality performance.
  • Perform hands on work duties in the field and provide oversight to contractor workforce for specific craft duties.
  • Perform pre-task preparations for assigned work. (e.g., procedures, permits, JLAs, tools, etc.)
  • Inform First Line Supervisor (FLS) of work status changes, personnel issues, safety or quality incidents, efficiencies, etc.
  • Follow close out and work turnover processes to ensure accurate feedback to customers.
  • Perform administrative tasks timely and accurate, update documentation and maintenance history in SAP as applicable.
  • Responsible for timely completion of assigned training modules.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and ongoing proficiency in all aspects of the work carried out.
  • Collaborate with technical, planning, and execution teams effectively.
  • Understand and utilize PSMS tools to identify opportunities for improvements.

Specific Job Roles & Responsibilities

  • Project coordination, planning and construction support if applicable
  • Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of process units, polymer applications, and lab scale equipment if applicable
  • Proficient in reading and understanding mechanical dimensional drawings
  • Proficient in trouble shooting and repairing a variety of pumps, compressors and hydraulic systems when applicable.
  • Skilled in the use of alignment tools, micrometers, calipers, borescope and torque wrench when applicable.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge (Not Exclusive)

  • 2-year associates degree/cert. in any Process or Industrial related field equivalent experience in petrochemical or research industries.
  • Hands on craft skills and knowledge preferred.
  • Mechanical equipment repair and/or maintenance planning of pumps, blowers, compressors, and feeders.
  • Understanding of QA/QC inspections & preventative maintenance.
  • Able to use appropriate hand and power tools, mechanical diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot, and operate equipment.
  • General computer skills and understanding necessary to perform administrative tasks. Additional software knowledge of MS Office, SAP, AutoCAD/Desk Vault is preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to read and understand P&ID’s, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and plot plans
  • Strong organization skills, motivated, and enjoys working in team atmosphere

Pre-Employment Testing Guidance

This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. After applying you will receive a pop up giving you access to the assessment. You may take the assessment at that time or utilize the instructions below to access the assessment at a time convenient for you.  Note that the assessment must be completed by the deadline in order for you to be considered for the O&M position for which you have applied.

IMPORTANT

The O&M test has been revised.  Effective December 1, 2021 ALL candidates must complete the revised assessment.  Even if you have tested within the last 365 days (passed or failed), if you tested before December 1, 2021, you must complete the revised assessment to be considered for this O&M opportunity.  Failure to complete the assessment by the deadline will result in your disqualification from consideration for this position.  The assessment is the same for all O&M requisitions.  If you have completed the assessment after December 1, 2021, your assessment results will be mapped to this requisition when you try to access the test. Test passed candidates will be screened by the hiring team and a subset invited for interview.  Note that a satisfactory result on the assessment does not guarantee an interview.
