Job description

About the role
The Senior Business Analyst position for the BOE Data & Analytics group acts as a project manager and technical lead for business intelligence projects focused on real estate data analyses for CBRE's clients and its own internal analytics. Projects will be focused on data integration, warehousing, and visualization with a particular focus in two areas: benchmarking and internal analytics. For benchmarking, key outcomes will focus on centralization, standardization, and distribution of benchmarks across a variety of metrics and stakeholders to help ensure pricing, CBRE operations, and client portfolios are within industry best practices. For internal analytics, key outcomes will be the support of cross-client scorecards, analytics at the sector level, and platform support for CBRE's subject matter experts for all service lines including facilities management, project management, finance, portfolio administration, energy and sustainability, etc.
What you'll do
  • Perform both technical lead and project manager responsibilities for benchmarking and internal business intelligence projects in support of a variety of corporate and government clients.

  • Create, maintain and optimize creative data visualizations and dashboards (primarily in Tableau) to derive actionable intelligence.

  • Provide subject matter expertise on data-related processes and analyses.

  • Collect business and data requirements to ensure inclusion in the final solution.

  • Present progress and results to clients and collects feedback for revisions.

  • Develops scenario planning tools/models (exit/maintain/grow). Prepares forecasts and analyzes trends in general business conditions.

  • Prepare formal presentations and/or written reports describing project methodology, scope, key assumptions, and results.

  • Collaborate with CBRE's Digital and Technology team to implement automated technical solution for business intelligence projects.

  • Miscellaneous technical support for marketing materials, and data support for CBRE software systems.

  • No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to coworkers.

Qualifications
What you'll need
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university required. Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or training.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

  • Excellent data management, manipulation, and analysis skills. Ability to create integrated data models from disparate sources. Understanding of relational databases. Highly skilled in dashboard design and development. Advanced Tableau skills are required. Proficiency in database technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server is preferred.

  • Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.

  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.

  • Advance experience in MS Office Products (Excel, Access, Power Point, Word, etc). Ability to use query and report generation tools. Self-service/web based application experience desired.

  • Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.

  • Excels in dynamic environments with shifting priorities and evolving business needs.

  • Comfortable making sound decisions in fast-moving, ambiguous situations.
